Cochon Dingue — Restaurant in Quebec

What can I say, my wife and I were absolutely blown away by this place. We arrived in the middle of a huge downpour and the food made us completely forget about getting soaking wet outside.

I had the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict pictured below and it was absolutely to die for. Seriously, if you are a fan of eggs Benny and salmon, get this. The eggs were poached perfectly, The salmon has the perfect amount of smoke, and the sauce... perfection.

My wife had the crepes with fruit and said it was incredible as well, although I didn't get a chance to try it. This place claims to have the best coffee in Quebec city right on the menu and even that is true. I have no idea where they get it from but it's fantastic.

Wait staff was extremely polite and very attentive. Will certainly come back next time we are in...

Sadly, I wasn't able to get my order, because the staff forgot me. I was assigned a table and waited for a while. There was less than five customers in the restaurant with many servers available. After waiting for a while, I decided to leave. As I was leaving, I could see some of the servers making eye contact with me, but saying nothing. Moreover, I heard the servers having a discussion as who was responsible for serving me, yet no one came to appologize or ask me to stay.

Some recommendations: As soon as you assign someone at a table, take responsibility for them, until you transfer that client to another server. When you sit the customer, don't simply go away - offer something to drink while they wait. Prioritise your task on the customers, especially when you are...

I have never had a worse meal. Maybe for the table dhote they serve garbage ? I ordered dumplings. They were so well done that they cracked in the middle. It was embarrassing that they served it. Sauce was mediocre But, I was starving :( The steak was ordered medium well. Had a sign that said well. Was burnt on the outside, the char tasted bad and the meat was bloody. Medium rare with burnt exterior. Fries were over cooked. Steak pepper sauce lacked flavor. My water wasn't refilled. The crème brulee was decent Terrible food and ordinary service. I have no idea how this place gets good reviews. No idea.

Edit: I did mention it to the staff snd if you serve food that is visibly overcooked there is not much that can be done. Which is why I say the service...
