Ginger Resto-Bar — Restaurant in Quebec

We ate at Ginger last night (Monday) while on a quick stop in town and staying at the attached hotel. We made a 7:30 reservation and arrived a few minutes early. The host remembered us and we were quickly seated. This will be great we thought! We had a very kind waitress that brought water and took our drink order promptly. Once that order was placed, the courtesy and service simply disappeared. With a nearly empty restaurant, it still took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, a glass of wine and a beer in a can. When we placed our order, we were told they were out of calamari, not a big deal, so we skipped the app portion. On the servers recommendation, I went with the burger and my wife ordered the seafood stew. The sever came back quickly to say they were out of seafood stew. The kitchen could still do seafood linguine so she chose that. 30 or so minutes later, our food arrived and our empty water glasses got refilled. My burger was beyond overcooked, well done might not even aptly describe it. The bun too was crusty and the fries weren’t even warm, let alone hot or fresh. The linguine was about a half pound of pasta with 2 shrimp, 2 mussels that seems “off a little” and something resembling a calamari tentacle. Wow. Not impressed. My daughter’s mac & cheese was good and could have fed 3-4 people. We declined dessert and promptly paid our tab and left. The whole experience took nearly 2 hours when it could have taken 45-min to an hour. Overpriced, sub-par food quality and a general lack of service made this a regrettable one time visit to Ginger. Do yourself a favor and just go to the McDonalds...

I went to the restaurant for the morning buffet and for dinner. The food for the buffet was not great. I got all dried up and I feel like it has been there for too long. Usually it gets replaced by fresher food here and there but I think it wasn’t the case. Everything was to the point of a “was there for too long” type of texture, temperature and taste. It was almost cold. As for the dinner, I asked question about what I wanted to order and what it came with. The waitress made a human mistake and gave me wrong information and to that point it was ok. But she came back to tell me and was laughing and telling me it was too bad unless I really wanted it, then she would see to it. I told her I did and that I’d appreciate if I could have it since that was what she advertised when asked. She laughed and left to came back forever after that. I was done eating my plate when she came back with what was missing… Kinda ruined it for me. Never came back for water, never asked if we needed anything and so we didn’t have nothing to drink for half of it cause she was nowhere to be found and never came back. As for dinner food, it was great tho. I don’t have any back comments to that effect but I expected something else. There was a free buffet for kid 2 years old and under. Food was great there but then again the plate from the buffet stayed on our table for the whole dinner. So nothing dramatic but still expects better when you go to a dinner with service since that’s the point of...

Our 2 night stay for Dec. 24-26 at the hotel. We get there. We had to make a reservation to eat at the restaurant, so we ordered the food to go. Unfortunately because they are short staffed, they called at the room to notify us that our food was ready. The tray was crazy heavy (again, no help from them).. Upon arrival, the restaurant was not full. We had to order from La table d'hôte, which was bloody expensive for what the food was. The salmon tartar was disappointing, but la bavette was the best!!.(We could not order anything else, just la table d'hôte). BUT un gros merci au staff de soir, as the service was great, and very friendly. Everyone everywhere is short staffed, but it is what it is and they rocked. At the bar (the 24th), the man was very nice and sa coche!! In the mornings it was buffet only. I wanted to surprise my husband with a breakfast in bed (as I did not know it was buffet only). I get downstairs and the lady was extremely rude and basically laughed in my face, and said buffet only, on the 25th, elle ma vraiment pris pour une idiote.
