Labothéry — Restaurant in Quebec

I am not normally a huge fan of bubble tea due to the fact the drinks are normally extremely sweet. This was not the case. I was greeted by the owner after most stores closed and staff were running out. His store was open and he was in no rush to run out. He explained the concept and directed me in the right direction to get a non sweet experience. It was overwhelming at first but after some tips I got exactly what I wanted.

He speaks perfect French and perfect English which is rare for this part of the province.

It would have been a 5-star buuut we don’t get to mix the ingredients ourselves even though the name and the way the system works makes it seem like we do. The theme is that of a chemistry lab. The flavors are in syringes, the bubbles in petri dishes and the milk in lab liquid containers. We can mix and match the flavors as we wish. It was a bit disappointing not to be able to mix the ingredients ourselves (at least at the beginning!). Usually I don’t like bubble tea but this place might make me change my mind! Price isn't too bad for a large plus topping.

The fruit tea is very sweet and syrupy. Can't really taste the tea flavour. The milk tea is good - you can make some really interesting flavour combinations. The flavour tubes are really sweet already so you really don't need to add extra sugar. That also means you can't really make drinks that are not sweet. Ice level is fixed too.
