Very happy with the experience and the food here. Spent a few hours in Trenton Ontario and needed to have breakfast. Soooo happy we went to Momma's Diner! Loved the place for numbers of things.
The customer service. - the lady that was serving was very friendly and very welcoming. Knew how to make customers feel at home. I love a resto that has that homey feel. This place did not disappoint. One of the things I look for in a resto is if it is frequented by the locals..and this place definitely is frequented by the locals. The server knew her people really well. Even saw her set up a table for a couple she saw pulling in at the parking lot and sat them at what in guessing is their favourite table, got gramps and granny's coffee ready so all they had to do was sit and order their meals. Also, our meals came out not too long from when we placed the order.
Food - can not go wrong with a really good 3 meat 3 egg cmwith home fries and toast combo or even a french toast breakfast with 1 meat and eggs. If you've ever been to some diners and noticed how greasy their meals are or how salty they can be, this place sure is the opposite. Our meals were well cooked, not greasy at all. I had the burger with my breakfast and i really enjoyed having that burger with my baked beans and eggs and toast. My gf had the french toast with bacon and eggs. And it looked like a really good portion of french toast and eggs. Bacon cooked to her liking. Almost diabetic friendly pancake syrup as it was not too sweet.
Price - let's just say that our 2 meals, 2 coffees, with tip, was the equivalent of what 1 maybe 2 breakfast plates you'd get at a chain breakfast diner aka *ennys or *hop. The pricing is 100% budget friendly especially nowadays when every dime or nickel counts
Overall:
Definitely would return to this place if ever...
Read moreI got takeout from here (steak with mashed potatoes, veggies, and a Caesar salad) and it was borderline inedible. I can't speak to what it would be like to done in or have their other food but all of the items I had were not great quality and not great tasting unfortunately.
Have it 2 stars for service and I'm sure they have some good things but the food I personally had was a 1 star or less. I don't like posting negative reviews and I wish the best for the restaurant but I think it may have been the worst steak I have ever eaten 😅 Hoping the feedback will encourage an improvement.
Constructive feedback: Steak was too overcooked and bad quality cut. I can overlook a bad cut if the taste is even just ok but it was not. It was somehow too burnt tasting but also very bland. Could benefit from some seasoning (I don't even think there was salt on it) and a sauce.
Mashed potatoes and veggies just tasted like they gave me boiled potatoes and veggies. No seasoning (no salt) and I don't think the mashed potatoes had milk, cream, butter or anything but potatoes. They were also rock hard.
Caesar salad the dressing was a little weak and the bacon tasted stale and almost like it went bad. Could benefit from fresher ingredients.
I really am not trying to be rude I just wanted to put my honest thoughts down. Once again this was takeout so it might be different dine in. Maybe they just were busy or the chef working wasn't up to their usual standard. I can't speak to any of that because this was my first time trying it.
The price was amazing though. Maybe stick to breakfast at a...
Read moreMy husband and I are moving to the area and thought we'd check out this cute diner. I am a breakfast waitress as well, so I wanted to check out possible employment opportunities when we move. We stopped in on a Saturday around 11:30, there was a couple tables in there but not busy whatsoever. Our waitress ruined our first and last experience here, nor would I ever want to work somewhere with such lack of care from their employees. She was short with us, like we were a bother to her for being there. She dropped my beverage off and said nothing and walked away. Instead of coming back to take our order, she proceeded to take table after table, that came in after after us, including a table of 10. She deleveried drinks and took food orders for multiple tables while ignoring us. After waiting almost 15 minutes with our menu closed, and even the other waitress would look at us and just look away, like we weren't her problem, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. Luckily right down the road from them is a cute small diner where the owner is the server, and she was the nicest, kindest lady I ever met. You should send your servers down for a refresher course on customer service from her. Sorry Mama's diner, but train or hire staff that actually care about their jobs and I might be back...
