Honestly, I was having a hard time deciding on if I should post a review or not, but I had the kind of experience this morning that left a bad taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively.
I believe ABC is under new-ish ownership/management, which may account for some of my experience. We went in today while it was moderately busy (although not packed, as I've seen it before) and were shown to our table for two. We got our coffee, and the waitress took our order. After that, we sat waiting for our meal, and our coffee cups were empty until the meals came out, when they were dumped on our table by another server while our's refilled our cups at the same time. When asked if there was anything else we needed, we noted that there was no jam for the toast - our waitress checked on at least 3 other tables before heading to the kitchen to grab that, and we then let her know they had also missed the butter for the waffles (our waitress stating the kitchen staff was "awful").
As we got into our meals, the waffles had already gotten cold before the butter was delivered, and the poached eggs were incredibly inconsistent: ordered poached medium, and on two eggs, the whites came out unset with runny yolk, and the last one could have been a hard boiled egg. The second round of coffee was also incredibly bitter - likely a pot that had been sitting for a while.
By the time the waitress came to check on us, the meals were basically done - she'd walked past us about half a dozen times. When I mentioned how bad the eggs had been (the hard one still sitting on my plate), the waitress told me "yeah, poached eggs are hard", and when I argued, "welll, when it's this busy"... about a quarter of the tables were empty, and honestly, I've seen it MUCH busier before.
I normally wouldn't gripe about wait staff when it's a kitchen issue, but charging us full price for poor service and poor quality was irritating, especially when I had recently recommended ABC to a friend for their dinner menu. There's a new place in the north-west corner of town that I've had good experiences with, and similar pricing, so I may be giving ABC a break so that they can slow down a bit until their kitchen can take the time they need to make food properly, and their wait staff aren't as busy so they can spend enough time on the...
Read moreThis is my friend and I main place to go for a lunch date we go at least once a week we usually have the same waitress an amazing lady she knows our orders with out asking and I would recommend this place for anyone! Until today that is! I went in with my son son lunch this afternoon the waitress we got was not very nice she took a long time to come ask us what we want to drink she never refilled my sons pop nor my coffee when asked! Once we got our food she didn’t come back for 20 mins to check on us! And today my food was super greasy which again never happens but it was a one off I guess so I tried to tell my waitress she tried to dismiss my feelings than just grabs my plate and doesn’t ask if we want anything else or dessert just bring the bill and throws it on the table I than asked for a dessert for my son and I asked for a piece of flapper pie I order this every time I come and you have two options of sizes today I paid for the larger piece of pie but one received the senior size which is 3.99 roughly but I was charged 6.99 I was to nervous to tell my waitress this because she made me feel so uncomfortable with the problem about my food I can’t say I won’t be back because usually I have amazing service but I do not ever want to be helped by this lady again and I shouldn’t have to be afraid to ask why I m being charged more than what I got that is not ok so for future please make sure you do your job proper so someone else doesn’t have this same experience… you are working with the public please take there feelings in consideration as we are paying...
Read moreI always really enjoy the food here, and the service during the meal is generally decent. The problem with ABC is when you’re given your bill. I don’t know why, but every single time I’ve eaten here, once the bill is dropped off, my server either vanishes or simply ignores my table. Every single time.
My boyfriend and I went for lunch there today — after avoiding the place for several months because the waiting to pay bothers us — and we had a good time, as the food was good and the server was friendly. Once we were given the bill, however, our server didn’t acknowledge us for nearly thirty minutes (and I’m not exaggerating; the bill was printed at 2:54 and we got up to pay at the front of the restaurant at about 3:20). We had stacked our plates at the end of the table and cleaned up as much as we could while we waited, with the bill sitting in plain sight. The server passed us several times, glancing at the bill but never speaking to or looking at us. At one point another server took our dishes, but didn’t ask about the bill. Eventually we went to wait at the front by their POS and someone took our payment there.
I honestly don’t like having negative things to say here. As I said, I love the food and the servers are great while we’re still eating. I just want to know why my party and I are consistently ignored when it comes time to pay for the meal, regardless of who I’m with, how busy it is (we usually go there in the off-hours) and who the server is, which is even more bewildering.
