Leah's Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Red Deer

My friends and boyfriend went for a beer and to sing karaoke on a Thursday night. What transpired is mind blowing. The karaoke host was extremely unprofessional and her behaviour was deplorable. She called out a paying patron on the microphone and berated her in front of the entire bar. She proceeded to say publicly into the microphone it was not the “ “name of the person singing” show” and was up in arms about this girl going up to sing because she was asked by her friend to come sing together during her song because she was uncomfortable. The karaoke host said nobody can sing back to back songs but she allowed the other females to sing together back to back songs and had zero issue with it prior to this episode she created. The fact that this individual is the face of karaoke at Leah’s bar and grill is unhinged. The lack of professionalism is astounding. She then called out for security to remove us and said karaoke Is done once we questioned her antics . Afterwards she continued to chastise us behind our table shouting. We shut it down and said we would not engage with her and she threw a fit attempting to have security remove us. Leah’s bar and grill should be ashamed and rethink who they are having represent their establishment. This behavior is unacceptable by a staff member. I truly hope the owners rectify this immediately and follow protocols that align with the hospitality industry . Proper measures are required to ensure this does not happen again in the future . This type of behaviour simply can’t be tolerated . The karaoke host should be held accountable for this behaviour and repercussions held in place for deliberately breaking the code of conduct and behaving unethically. Avoid this establishment if you are a talented singer looking to sing for fun and enjoy an evening...

It was my first time to Leah's Bar & Grill. And definitely will not be my last. The day before visiting Leah's Bar & Grill, I had a question regarding the pub which I submitted on their Google site, staff responded within 20mins, I was instantly impressed! After my visit, I can say I truly enjoyed the place. My friend and I sat on the patio, which was great also on a sunny day. The server was extremely bubbly and inviting, very personable, instantly you feel welcome to the pub. Beer was served cold, menu has a huge selection of food items - truly something for everyone! Really you must visit to see the menu! Decided on a few appies to share, went with the Hot & Salty wings which was recommended by our waitress! Very unique, with a solid punch of flavour, good size of wing also. But.... wait for it.... the Spinach Dip was seriously...unreal..out of this world delicious,... thick, creamy, warm & super cheeesey. I'm not one to order a Spinach Dip, in a bar, as my first go to, but I tell ya..I'm still craving the flavour of this hot dip 2 days later!! LOL Excellent - hot Spinach Dip! For entree, we both ordered the steak sandwich, thoroughly impressed with the variety of side options for a very affordable "bar steak sandwich", quality as well as flavour were great. I think it goes without saying, I highly recommend Leah's Bar & Grill! Leah’s used to be the go to place for wings and karaoke. I’m not sure what happened this past Thursday but it was awful. In bullet point form to keep it short and sweet: Watched our drinks sit on the bar for 20 mins before brought to us Water slammed down in front of one of my friends after she waited 20 mins for it Another drink order forgot, and not addressed once brought to Leah’s attention. The friggin business owner. EDIT: I thought it was the business owner. I was mistaken. I would like to correct myself, it was not Leah I spoke to. My apologies for the mistake. Finally got the drink approx: 45 mins after asked for it after a 3rd reminder Wing order had to be retaken after 45 mins of order due to the order not being put in. Karaoke sound was just terrible. People had to scream in the mic to be louder than the music - Guy needs some training or another person employed. Wings were good, after an hour of waiting to get them.

To play devils advocate, it was busy, we were a large table. However the issues continued after it died down, which happened very quickly after karaoke started, and for very good reason.

I have been here before with it being just as busy, on a wing night with karaoke and everything was so great. The food, the service, the music, the karaoke. I struggled to leave this review. I recommended this place for my friends birthday and she obliged, and I was apologizing profusely and slightly embarrassed.
