Swiss Chalet — Restaurant in Red Deer

It was absolutely the worst thanksgiving dinner I have ever been a part of. I have a friend who was going to be alone for thanksgiving a friend recommended Swiss chalet to me showing me the picture online about the great food you get for 12.99. I ordered this dinner for my friend even though the lady taking my order was extremely rude. After waiting for over an hour for her meal I was in shock when I saw what was delivered. It looked nothing like the picture online. Her meal came in tiny plastic containers like airplane food. This so called awesome thanksgiving dinner was a complete joke. It wasn't even enough food to feed a toddler. And the pie that came with it was so frozen her fork just about broke in it. There was no cranberry sauce as advertised a small scoop of dressing and potatoes and smallest piece of chicken I've ever seen all for twenty seven dollars. So I called the restaurant and spike with the manager after arguing with me about this sad excuse of a meal she finally says she will have another order made up and send it out. You would think they would send out an amazing dinner to make up for the first one especially after speaking to the manager. Well it actually got worse. After waiting a good two and a half hours I decided to phone back to find out where my friends dinner was and what was taking so long. Well the manager I spoke with forgot to tell anyone to get us a new order made up. At this point I had had it and was livid!!! When we finally got the second meal three hours later it was actually worse then the first one. This time it came on the platter like it shows in the online picture but the piece of chicken was a medium size piece of white meat we ordered dark meat only there was no dressing no potatoes no cranberry sauce and no pies. What she got was a white piece of chicken with a bunch of day old soggy fries and that was what I got for twenty seven dollars. It's only 12.99 if you go in and order it if it's delivered they bump it up to 14.99 plus a 3.50 delivery charge plus taxes and something else. Then the delivery driver had the balls to ask me if I wanted my change from forty dollars. I frigin guess so. So my poor friend who was suppose to get treated a nice dinner didn't get one what we did get was thrown in the garbage and I ended up ordering her something else from somewhere else in town which cost me even more money. But way better food and customer service then Swiss chalet had in their baby finger. I've never in my life seen such a screw up with take out food ever in my life. And you can bet my two friends with me at the time and myself will ever ever ever order from that restaurant ever again and I will tell this story to anyone I hear going there. I love Swiss Chalet but this one is awful. I have given this place more than enough chances. Today I came in with my family, and 2/6 orders needed fixing. My sister orders a chicken sandwich of some sort, and a salad with french dressing. She gets it and there is ranch on her salad, the lettuce on her sandwich is wilted, and theres none of the pesto-mayo sauce on it that there should be. Send it back, and she sees that there's ranch on the new lettuce, that was obviously just pulled out from the salad she ordered and stuck on her sandwich. It came back cold too, and we asked for it to be remade. My mother was given no butter at all with her baked potato, no plates were given with out appetizer which was the cheesy garlic loaf which can be messy. Previous times, when getting take out, you can see into the kitchen. I noticed that some of the people in there were wearing no hairnets, or even a hat. That's disgusting. The halloween decorations in there right now are distasteful. I'm all for being festive but I'm not digging the giant spiders on the chandeliers, creepy clowns when I walk in, and just trashy decorations. It's gross. I'm here to eat, not visit a haunted house. I've also gotten attitude from servers in the past, where they make snarky remarks about "the customer is always right," that's not needed when all I asked for was a booth. The same server who said that also stated that she didn't know how to host. It's not hard, and you should know how to do it if you're a server. I'm a hostess myself. I'm also appalled that instead of setting tables with silverwear, when we asked for some, it was taken off of nearby tables and not replaced. I've noticed hostesses seating people at dirty tables, and then proceeding to wipe them. That's disgusting. I want to like Swiss Chalet, but this is by far the worst. Upon arrival, traveling in from out of town to meet up with family. We used the washrooms, ladies washroom had a horrible sewer smell, several stalls the locks weren't functioning. Hubby reported that the men's washroom was dirty and no paper towel. We sat at our table, waitress came to take our drink order 3 waters 1 pop no ice. We also placed our orders. We waited 15 minutes, I finally saw our waitress and I asked when can we expect our beverages, she went to receive payment from a table near by then brought us our beverages 3 waters and 1 pop with ice! Food arrived at the same time, I had ordered my festive special with stuffing on the side not on the same plate, the kitchen screwed up and placed the stuffing on my plate but but another order they place it on a separate order. Knowing our time frame, we dealt with it. Chicken was over cooked (skin wasn't easily to pull off) The stuffing was gummy and very soft - almost tasted raw or undercooked. Chalet sauce tasted watery, barely warm, very little flavor. Coleslaw had no taste no Celery seeds.

We go to Swiss Chalet at least once a week in Sherwood Park (where we live) and are very familiar how these items are supposed to taste and to say that we were disappointed is an understatement.
