My family and I really wanted to support and try other Chinese places around the city, as Peking House was a bit overrated (and not very authentic) compared to other Chinese restaurants around Canada. We saw that Tim's Kitchen had decent reviews, and was quite cheap. Unfortunately, the food was DISGUSTING.
We were all extremely hungry, so we bought $50 worth of food, yet 90% of it went into the trash. To say it was edible would be kind. We ordered hot and sour soup, which tasted more like sweet and salty soup flavoured with tablespoons of MSG. The dry garlic spare ribs seemed to be fried in very black oil, and the rib itself tasted very stale and had a sour aftertaste. We also ordered Gon Chao Hau Ho (Soya Sauce Noodles with Beef Stir Fry) which wasn't on the menu, but it was my family's favourite, so when I asked for it, they said they could make it no problem. But it turned out to be flavourless and doughy; The noodles seemed like they were dumped together with soya sauce, and the veggies only included red pepper; absolutely no preparation at all. The fried rice was very bland, and seemed to be drowned in oil. And the Ribs with Black Bean sauce had absolutely no taste except for the dry ribs. This dish made me gag several times.
Overall, the food was garbage (literally) even for the soft price point. These Chinese dishes seemed to be made by a toddler, yet ironically, they proudly proclaim that their food is made with an "Experienced Cook" on the front of their menu. I am so disappointed and disgusted by the quality of the food, that I would never ever in a hundred years recommend this place to anybody. I am actually surprised this Trash Kitchen still has a positive rating on here. Hopefully more people will start telling the cold...
Read moreFirst off, I ordered from Tim's because of the good reviews that I saw online. Everyone had pretty decent things to say. My experience was different. We ordered the Orange Chicken, the Ginger Beef and the Moo Goo Gai Pan. The only thing that was decent was the Moo Goo Gai Pan. The orange chicken was tough, my daughter could barely chew it, but at least it tasted vaguely how it was supposed to. The Ginger Beef, on the other hand, was completely inedible. Calling it shoe leather would be kind. Both of these dishes were listed as "Chef's Specials" but the only thing special was how bad they were.
That being said, I didn't want anything but I felt that I needed to at least call to say "look, you should know these are pretty bad" and that my first impression would likely be my only because it just wasn't good. Instead, I got "No one has ever complained before". Well, if that's true (which I can't believe), then consider this review a first. I can't with a clear conscience recommend this...
Read moreI was told this place was good and being new to Regina I decided to try it out. My delivery came right on time and everything was still piping hot....BUT...THIS WAS EASILY THE WORST CHINESE FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD! The chicken fried rice had no veg and only a few bits of chicken and the rice was so over cooked it was gluey! The deep fried shrimp and chicken balls were all batter and the sweet and sour tasted like a mix of ketchup and sugar. The beef and veggies was well cooked but flavorless and only 4 measly pieces of tough and chewy beef. And lastly, we ordered the house specialty szechuan beef. The sauce was actually great but the meat was so overcooked it chewed like a rawhide dog bone! All this food (4ppl) and they sent 2 packs of soy and 1 plum for us all to split. Luckily I also ordered a spring roll...and it was great! We ended up at the local pub for nachos an hr. later. SAVE YOUR MONEY, TRY...
