This was our second and very disappointing visit to the Bonnechere Bakery. We are devotees of Schmecken Bakery in Pembroke, love it in fact, but thereâs no comparison between the two. Iâll just focus on todayâs food: the potato cheddar soup was served barely luke warm & when tasted, was surprisingly tasteless & very thin. Two others at the table tasted it & agreed. However, the croissant was ok (Schmecken croissants are far superior though) & the chicken filling was acceptable. Another guest had the cheese grilled sandwich, but this is how it was: there was no butter put on the outside of the bread, the slice of cheese inside wasnât melted AT ALL & it wasnât even toasted - maybe just put in a sandwich machine for 2 min. Then there was the Reuben Sandwich bread which was very soft & the guest wasnât impressed with the filling either. However, the bagel was a hit. Our first visit was much the same, but we returned because we love their kitchen shop, but there wonât be a third visit - weâll stick...
Read moreIt was chosen by my sweet daughter-in-law, and her friend, and it was really great: coffee bar in front, shop in back, restaurant alongside..ambience, lovely...from the Victorian style plasterwork on the ceiling, to the comfy seating in situ in restaurant area. Great, friendly staff, and excellent, delicious food. Freezer fridge chock o' block full entree and dessert options as ' take and bake'. Their shop has a unique collection of kitchen gadgets, etc and global variety of condiments..The selection of baked goods is beyond any pastry dreams , displayed in an antique general store type case..Everyone in our group was very satisfied with every thing about the place. Sadly we live about 1400kms away, so a return visit maybe not beas oftenor soon as I'd like, but most definitely I would highly recommend for a coffee stop and...
Read moreI love this place. I mean I really really love it. One of favorite restaurants. We return there every summer as we have a summer place near their location. Sometimes during the winter we drive in from Ottawa. We went today and got their special of California chicken (my favorite) on a croissant with dilly potato salad ( my favorite side) we werenât surprised that the price went up since the last time we were there. I do t mind paying for good food. Unfortunately I was very upset to see a very thin layer of the California chicken on my croissant đ and how small my cookie is. Ginger cookie amazing try it itâs good. So Iâm disappointed not that they raised the prices Iâm disappointed that Iâm getting less for my money even though Iâm paying more. Will I be back? Most definitely. Do I recommend? Absolutely! Just...
