Food Express Inc. Renfrew — Restaurant in Renfrew

Stopped by Food Express the other day for a snack of some french fries and was NOT disappointed.

I ordered a small order of fries, extra crispy (although they could have been cooked a little longer, they were still fairly well done).

The portion size for a small was much larger than anticipated, and for 5$ tax in, so there were no complaints in that department.

The fries are nice and hearty, very fresh and there was no taste of old oil.

Although I ordered them well done, I did notice some of the fries were less than ideally cooked, so I would suggest getting your fries cooked longer than their usual length if you’re looking for crispy fries. Rating star lost due to insufficiently crispy fries.

I will return, and am forward to trying more of their menu...

As a Brit who’s lived in the US for 20 years finding Fish and Chips thats close to home is near impossible. My family were on our way to Montreal and stopped in Renfrew for a few days vacation and came across this little gem. The fish was amazing, was like what I used to get from my Chip shop back home and the batter was spot on. The chips were different but man they were excellent also. Fluffy Potato-ay and crispy on the outside. 10/10 My son said the poutine was the best he’d had since arriving in Canada and the Veggie Pad Thai was excellent with enough to feed two Americans lol. This place is a gem. It's like finding a gold coin lying by the path. Renfrew doesn't have a lot of options for food and this restaurant fills the gap of a greasy spoon where you get excellent quality food for a really reasonable price. Cheeseburger combo is $12.50 (be nice and give a 2.50 tip) so $15 for a good size burger, fries and a drink. Unless you forgot to eat yesterday you will be full and content.
