My 1st time visiting this Millstone Rice Rolls. I was told this place is usually packed so we got lucky to have a table right away.
We ordered a bunch of stuff to share such as the shrimp rice rolls, truffle mushroom rolls, curry fish balls and an assorted congee.
The rice rolls were good but I prefer fresher and bigger shrimps. I guess personally, I prefer the old traditional rice roll that has smooth skin than this fuzzy rice rolls that are more messy and sticky and hard to pull apart from each roll, of course, that's just my preference.
We also ordered the truffle mushroom rice rolls. We could smell and taste the truffle. But we felt the truffle was a bit overpowering in the taste, so we prefer the shrimp rice rolls more.
Curry fish balls had a nice amount of curry sauce, the curry colour looked good and fish ball was bouncy and tasty. And for those who can't eat too much spicy sauce, no worries, the curry isn't too spicy. Most should be able to handle the little spice taste.
In particular, I really enjoyed the assorted "Little Boat" congee. They placed some egg strands on top with a few pieces of crispy stick (ghost stick) on top of the congee, which was a nice touch and the ONLY restaurant that I know in Toronto that I ate that offered this, this gives massive brownie points.
The congee is pipping hot which I prefer and the bowl was a good size.
It offered a good amount of ingredients including bouncy squid (which many places stop offering bouncy squid), there were pork skin, shrimps, minced beef and overall it was a very well-executed and complete bowl of congee. It definitely resembles very closely to what you get back in Hong Kong, so good job!
Overall, the restaurant is a decent size, clean with a nice HK feel to it with all the HK iconic landmark wallpaper + you can see the chefs working hard behind the kitchen with the transparent glass.
I will definitely come back to dine again here. The staff were quick...

-[COCONUT SOYMILK] $3.99 🥛 Quite a sizable amount honestly for the price, and the closure on the lid is very convenient 🥥 Coconut flavor really come through so I enjoyed it a lot
-[CONGEE - SEASONED BEEF] $8.00 🍚 Congee is savory rice porridge with various ingredients in it - if you've never had congee before, start with something yummy but simple like a beef version 🍖 The beef was super tender, and flavorful so I highly recommend this congee
-[DEEP FRIED FISH TOFU & TEMPURA] $9.99 🍤 Pretty darn tasty, and I liked the variety of fish tofu/fish cakes that were included in this dish
-[FISH SIU MAI] $7.99 🥟 This is typically a dumpling dish made with pork so whenever I see a fish version offered, I always get it 🥟 Their version here is delicious, and I enjoyed it with or without sauce too
-[BBQ PORK MILLSTONE RICE ROLLS] $7.50 🥩 BBQ pork is on the sweet side when it comes to flavors but the contrasting saltiness of the soy sauce tied the dish altogether 🥩 Also really enjoyed this one too
-[UNAGI MILLSTONE RICE ROLLS] $8.99 🟤 Unagi is barbecued eel, and these are rice rolls with unagi pieces folded into it 🟤 The unagi, and sauce pairs so well with the rice rolls - super good
-[BREAD STICK] $3.99 🥖 A deep fried dough stick is a more accurate way of describing it, almost like a savory donut 🥖 We deep these into the congee to eat it together, and their "bread sticks" are super hot when served so be warned: wait a few minutes before trying to consume!
📝 They only take cash/debit here so make sure you have that on you 📝 My mandarin is really bad on a speaking level but it was just enough to communicate with them when I needed to ask for stuff - just be aware that it is a little difficult to communicate with the staff in...
Read moreI have visited Millstone Rice Rolls a couple times now, it brings back alot of dimsum and HK style eatery nostalgia feelings from when I grew up in the late 90's and early 00's when I woud go every weekend wit my parents.
I went here for the first time with my mom and we both loved it. Ordered a variety of rice roll dishes. I ordered the HK hot milk tea and oh man it was rich in creaminess and deliciousness. My mom enjoyed the beef and shrimp rice rolls. She said it reminded her of the dimsum spots we use to go to in downtown Toronto.
I came back the second time with two close friends on empty stomach to really experience the other amazing rice rolls that I couldn't try with my mom. We each got the HK hot milk tea (I highly recommend it!) we ordered some dishes for ourselves but most were sharable dishes.
We pretty much got a bit of everything (different rice rolls), we got the chinese dougnut which is really good, we also got the cut up sesame biscuit (don't remember whats it called), we also got the congee bowls (I can't remember what we gotten, as we ordered so many food lol but make sure you get the fried dough stick if you're getting congee!) We loved the beef tripe, and liver dish too.
There are of course a ton of extra dishes we couldn't try as we were so full from ordering a little too much food. (Some of the food in the uploaded video was already finished before I could post content.
Next time I do come by again, I'll edit this review with additional content!)
Thank you for the amazing service and delicious food! The staff is also friendly and amazing.
I'll be back here...
