Today was a bad day to visit DEMETRES Richmond hill. Our initial order was for two Affogatos and The Mangalorian Crepe. The crepe was initially made with the wrong ice cream. It sat on the counter for few minutes before the ice cream was replaced and the same crepe was served with a scoop of Mango sorbetto after being cleaned. Even though there were only four occupied tables at the time, the order took about 25 mins for coffee and another 10 for the crepe. Later we added another crepe, this time a Mon Cherry and another Belgian Milk chocolate Macchiato coffee. By this time 13 tables were occupied and the service just went from bad to worse. We had to wait for about 10-15 mins to place an order as the staff seemed disinterested in checking on us, even though we had already informed that we will add more to the order after some time. Once the order was placed it took 30 mins for the coffee to arrive and I told the staff immediately that the coffee/espresso shot was missing. It was just flat chocolate milk with whip cream on top. The server told us that it’s supposed to be like that be. We were surprised, by this response and I asked for a shot of espresso to be added. The server informed that it would be separately charged and I agreed to it. Now another 25 minutes of agonizing wait started for the espresso shot. In between all this the Mon Cherry Crepe arrived and I’m sorry to say, the presentation was visual vomit. It looked like, the crepe took a dive in the cherry sauce jar and it was dripping. Finally the espresso shot arrived and the server asked us if I’d like him to pour it in the cold macchiato. I nodded yes and he just spilled half of the shot on the table. We were very disappointed with this and I immediately asked the lady who was initially serving us to get the bill. The bill arrived promptly and it was for $78, including two crepes for $22.75 per piece, three coffees for $9 each and an extra shot of espresso for $5.50. I asked the server once if I needed to pay for the shot as half of it was spilled. No offer to remove it from the bill was given I paid the bill in full. We also left the coffee and the Mon Cherry crepe on the table as is. All in all it was a horrible experience for us that soured our Sunday evening. The service was horrible, each and every item was served late and none of the dishes or glass/cup were clean. There was spillover in every serve. After paying the bill, I shared our experience with a young lad at the counter who claimed to be the manager. I asked for his name and he did not share. He did mention that he had made all the coffees in our order himself to which I shared that the only saving grace for the evening was the two affogatos that were great however there were served in unclean spilled over cups. All in all a terrible experience for my wife, kid and me. I’ll add the pics for our initial affogato for your perusal and the owner can check the video recording to verify. Unfortunately didn’t click pics of the spillage or the crepe that arrived later. This is probably my first bad review out of the scores I’ve given in the GTA.
The above review was written for Jan 26 visit. The owner replied and requested to write to them via their given email in reply so they could address the issue. However, it’s been more than a week since I contacted them on their email, they have not responded, not acknowledged and made no attempts to make things right. We had one of the worst dining experiences ever at Demetres in Richmond Hill. We went to this dumpster fire of a place, on Wednesday June 18, 2025 at around 7:30pm. From the moment we arrived, it was clear the staff had no idea what they were doing. It took over 30 minutes just for someone to come take our order. At first some girl server who didn’t even look at us or greet us — literally dropped water glasses on the table without saying a single word and walked away. We had to go to the counter and ask for someone to come and when a guy came he said “sorry you’re sitting in the blind corner we always forget people here”. Like WFT?
Like that wasn’t bad enough, our food didn’t arrive together — there was a 20-minute gap between plates, which completely ruined the dining experience. I could tell he clearly forgot one of our order and tried to cover it up with “oh your order is comings”. This is a desert place each plate takes like 5min to make how do you make people wait 20min between two orders for the same table. You would literally have to be extremely incompetent in existing in life to do manage that.
And the worst part was when we tried to bring this up with the manager Denise, instead of actually listening or apologizing, she kept making excuses about being busy and “training staff.” or getting upset at the waiter for telling us we’re sitting in the “blind corner”, none of which is a valid excuse for this level of chaos and stupidity. If you’re understaffed or training, be transparent with customers before seating them — don’t make people wait endlessly and then try to justify the poor service after the fact with an air of arrogance. Clearly this incompetent and arrogant woman needs some serious training in being a manager, it is very obvious she’s in wayyy over her head.
The staff, and the management showed zero accountability or care. We left angry, disappointed, and completely baffled by how such a popular place could be run so poorly.
Seriously staff at this restaurant should take a hard look at their life choices, how are you soooo bad at everything? Its pathetic.

Tonight, I went to the Dimitri's location in Richmond Hill with my family of 8, including a one-year-old baby and my elderly parents. The experience we had was a disaster and will absolutely never be repeated. First of all, even though the restaurant wasn't packed, they refused to give us a table for 8 and insisted we sit separately. With a small child and seniors, this was unacceptable, and after a long, frustrating wait, we were forced to sit at separate tables. The manager was completely indifferent, only citing "restaurant rules" and showing no flexibility whatsoever. After that disappointing start, the wait for the ice cream began. Our orders were brought out with such long gaps between them that the first person had finished their ice cream before the last person even received theirs! This kind of piecemeal service in an ice cream shop is truly unacceptable and completely ruined the enjoyment of a simple family outing. The height of our dissatisfaction came when we realized the ice cream and Nutella crepe we ordered were served practically without any Nutella! The amount was so minimal it was as if they forgot to add it. The quality of the products was also extremely poor. When I spoke to the manager about all these issues, to my disbelief, they were completely indifferent. Even when I said I would never return to this location, they showed no reaction whatsoever. This level of disrespect for the customer and lack of accountability is unbelievable. In conclusion, I state with absolute certainty: NEVER go to this Dimitri's location in Richmond Hill. Don't waste your time and money, and don't get your nerves frayed. Our experience, especially with vulnerable family members (child and seniors), was extremely bitter and unpleasant, and this location has no respect for its customers.
