Came to Ramona’s for the first time for brunch, and had high hopes given the great reviews. It took 20 mins to be seated, which was okay as we took a stroll in the mall. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing.
Iced Americano was incredibly sour. Either it was under extracted or the water wasn’t hot enough passing through the espresso machine? It was not drinkable, thankfully the server was kind to allow me to change my drink. The grapefruit juice was pricey but indeed fresh and nice.
Once the food came, my husband’s meal came in a little bucket? It was very bizarre, and we had no cutlery. Understanding that the servers were probably busy, we waited for them to bring us the cutlery but they didn’t. Eventually someone asked how the food was and we still had no cutlery, so we asked them to please bring it. It took them a long time to come back with cutlery, at which point we were quite hungry and I did have a few bites with my hands. Finally someone came with cutlery.
The spicy omelette was not seasoned at all, so I spent a good few minutes heavily seasoning the food with the salt and pepper at the table. If I come to a restaurant and pay $20 for a dish, I do expect it to have some seasoning? There was also no spice or spiciness to the “spicy omelette”. The worst part was the large amount of cooked arugula inside the omelette was EXTREMELY BITTER. Frankly it was inedible and ruined the whole dish. Husband tried a little piece and immediately spat it out.
This tells me the kitchen probably does not taste their food or test for quality control.
Potatoes were good and the salad was just there. Thankfully it had no arugula.
Husband’s dish was a poutine with hollandaise which was actually very tasty with lots of cheese, the hollandaise was a cool twist. It would have been nice if it came in a proper dish and not a little bucket. It just made for an awkward dining experience, to be eating from a little bucket.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, we won’t...

Read moreI've had great experiences with the original Thornhill location but the service at this location is absolutely terrible.
Food for starters was great, good presentation and tastes great.
Service on the other hand, absolutely terrible. Avoid this place; they act like they are doing you a favor by serving you.
We were a party of 11- having family visiting from overseas I recommended we have Friday afternoon brunch at Ramonas. Upon checking in for a table, staff in a shirt (not in uniform-perhaps manager?) snobbily said they could not accommodate such a large party. We agreed to sit separately. We were given two 4-person tables that were on opposite ends of the restaurant. This was late afternoon around 2PM so the lunch rush had already passed.
Upon both tables being available, one table beside the table we got was paying their bill and we had just sat down without any service or cutlery, water, etc. We politely asked the server if we could have that table to sit with our family. They said that the table was taken.. It was literally a 4-person table for another and would have made no difference nor no delay in the service of the next table. Even the ladies who just finished their meal at the table suggested we take their table and I advised we were not allowed.
Service was mediocre, not a smile on the servers face as if they were doing us a great favor. Ironic as there are little signs throughout telling us to be nice to the server as they are trying their best and the importance of a smile. Ha. The irony.
So unfortunate the management at this location is such an embarrassment as the food is...
