My Friends and I took a friend here for their afternoon summer tea on a Saturday afternoon for her birthday. We had a wonderful time. The shop was not too busy, and the food was delicious. We each selected our tea from one of thirty different options, and because the tea cups they had were small, we were able to share our pots and try each others selection which was great. I highly recommend the Cream of Avalon. Everyone got their own pot of tea, and the each person got a stand with a candle underneath to keep the tea warm which I thought was a really nice touch. The chef even came around to see if I would like hot water added to my tea after I had drank a bit which I appreciated. The desserts here were good and beautiful to the eye, But I must say that the savoury items were my favourite. The Corn and Cheese stuffed bun was fantastic, along with the vegetarian tomato cup I selected. The scones were buttery and the tea infused scone, though more bun like was really unique and super yummy too. For the desserts many of the decorations were made out of fondant or gum paste, which can be a bit too sweet or hard, so we would have preferred if they were made of chocolate. That being said, as a amateur cake decorator myself, I know that chocolate would not have achieved the same amazing look that that fondant presented. Our favourite dessert was the pineapple juice Madeline.
lastly I must speak to the service as it was so fantastic, the chef presented all of the food to us and took the time to explain everything we were about to try. She along with the other staff were super friendly, helped us take pictures, and you could really see how much care and pride they had for their food and teas. We were treated very well, and I would not hesitate to return. In fact I have already started following them on Insta, to see when their new fall tea will be released! Thank you My Cup of Tea Desserts! We...
Read moreIs that guy you met on Tinder, the one that's a little too into cosplay or talks a bit too much about crossfit, not your cup of tea? No worries. My Cup of Tea has got almost 30 different types of tea. I'm sure you'll find your perfect match there ;)
You heard that right. 30 different types of tea. All lined up in beautiful neat rows with fancy silverware, loose leaf samples, and descriptions. It was like a tea exhibit! From the subtle Kyoto Cherry Rose, to the citrusy African Queen, to the stronger Lavender Earl Grey. Each one was distinct, fragrant, and soothing.
We booked out the entire venue for my bridal shower (18 people minimum), and we were treated to this beautiful presentation along with an array of lovely pastries and treats in fancy cages. Everything was handmade and delicious! The fluffy jasmine scones, whipped cream dessert in a mini candied orange, and cheese puff were some of my favourites. The mango mousse cake made especially for the occasion was also a surprising sweet treat.
From initial conversation to the day of the event, the staff at My Cup of Tea were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were flexible, responsive, and worked closely with us even on the day of. We were never rushed even though there was technically a 3 hour limit. With the smaller setting, it was nice and intimate and everyone was taken care of.
There aren't too many places offering this type of high tea atmosphere in the area. Sure you've got your hotels, but where else do you get to book out your own private space at a reasonable price? Absolutely recommend this place for parties, high tea, and of course, showers. My Cup of Tea has certainly made a name for itself by being everyone's cup of tea this...
Read moreA small afternoon tea house in the Richmond hill area. Along side with their afternoon tea set they also serve lunch, dessert, and coffee/tea selection. Both time I went I reserved the day before for a weekday time slot and was perfectly easy.
Their sets ($32) come with a scone in 2 flavors, 3 savory sandwiches, 3 desserts, and a selection of coffee or tea. Their savory selection I’ve notice comes in the form of a meat, cheese, and egg variation. Both my visits included their Montreal smoked slider I’m not sure if this is their stable product but it’s absolutely delicious with a savory sweet flavoring. Their summer set includes mini garlic bread grilled cheese sandwich and the deviled Eggs. As for their summer desserts, they were coconut almond bail, white chocolate passion fruit mousse, and blueberry yogurt mousse cake. The sweets this season was on the sour end which was a very refreshing balance to the overall set.
Their tea selection is heavily fruity and floral with flavors such as Mango Tango, Organic Cranberry Apple, and Lavender Earl Grey. We ordered the lychee jasmine green and the Green lime cooler. Both were very fragrant and well balanced with the meal. Next time I would like to try their coffee menu separately because they do serve syphon coffee along with espressos, cappuccinos, and ice lattes.
I think their service is impeccable, they are more than happy to explain the menu and provide tea recommendations. I don’t like such fruity teas and the staff was willing to spend time going over more appropriate flavors with me. They also explain the food selection in details including their tasting notes and what should be...
