Star 6 Indian Cuisine Location: 4611 No. 6 Rd #170, Richmond, BC V6V
Star 6 Indian Cuisine offers a warm welcome, with staff greeting guests upon entry and allowing the freedom to select their preferred seating. Our dining experience began with a request for recommendations from our waitress, who suggested a selection of dishes, allowing us to sample a range of flavors.
Food
Kadai Paneer Vegetarian. Paneer stir-fried with bell peppers and onions, infused with a blend of spices. The Kadai Paneer is a standout vegetarian option, with a harmonious blend of spices that complemented the fresh bell peppers, onions, and tender paneer. Each bite revealed layers of warmth and complexity, making this dish a delightful showcase of traditional Indian flavors. Rating: 8/10
Methi Goat Goat cooked with fenugreek leaves in a rich, spiced curry sauce. The Methi Goat featured a flavorful and aromatic curry with well-balanced spices, showcasing the depth of fenugreek’s earthy profile. The goat itself was tender, with a texture that was pleasantly easy to chew. However, the portion of meat was modest, which was a bit disappointing given the abundance of sauce. A bit more substance would have elevated the dish considerably. Rating: 7/10
Lamb Tikka Masala Lamb in a creamy tomato and onion masala sauce. This classic was well-executed, with a creamy, spiced sauce that enveloped each piece of lamb in rich flavor. Although the taste was on point, the portion size of the meat was again on the smaller side. Nonetheless, the dish offered a satisfying experience overall, with its smooth texture and hearty essence. Rating: 7/10
Basmati Rice The basmati rice was served in a small portion and had a fair, if unremarkable, texture. It served its purpose as an accompaniment but lacked the aromatic quality one might hope for in authentic basmati rice. Rating: 7/10
Ambiance
The ambiance at Star6 Indian Cuisine is comfortable and clean, with a tasteful touch of authenticity provided by the soft background music of Indian origin. This added to the overall warmth of the space, creating an inviting environment that complements the food. Rating: 7/10
Service
Service was efficient but lacked a bit of warmth. Our waitress performed her role capably, though her demeanor was somewhat distant and mechanical. In contrast, the gentleman who brought our bill displayed a friendly and genuine approach, which left a positive final impression. Rating: 6/10
Price
While the flavors and quality are commendable, the portion sizes—particularly of the meats—make the price point feel a bit steep.
Verdict
Star 6 Indian Cuisine delivers authentic flavours with expertly balanced spices and thoughtful preparation. While portion sizes, especially in the meat dishes, could be more generous, the overall experience is positive. Ideal for those seeking genuine Indian flavours in a relaxed,...
Read moreI recently visited week ago to the restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While the food itself was decent—the service was abysmal and left a lasting negative impression.
Unfortunately google don’t have option to rate 0/5.
Despite being the only customer in the restaurant at the time, the server rarely checked on me. I had to constantly call her over, which was frustrating, given that she had no other tables to attend to. When it came to ordering a drink, I asked for a menu, only to be told they didn’t have one. The only options available were displayed on the counter. I opted for a 2-ounce pour of Black Label, which I have ordered at many places in Vancouver. To my surprise, I was charged double the usual price.
When I questioned the bill at the counter, the server initially handed it to me at the table, but when I paid in cash, she didn’t bring back the change. I had to get up and request it myself. To make matters worse, her attitude during this interaction was disrespectful. She made strange gestures when I asked for clarification, which is entirely unprofessional and not something I would expect in the hospitality industry.
I agree with others who have mentioned that the restaurant's pricing doesn’t align with the quantity or service provided. While the food shows potential, the poor service overshadowed everything. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and implements improvements in customer service. It’s disappointing to see such potential go to waste due to a lack of basic hospitality.
I won't be returning anytime soon and can’t recommend this place until they address...
Read moreOh what the heck, I'm feeling generous! Look, the thing is like a little hole in the wall in an industrial neighbourhood. But head inside the doors and WOW, they really did this place up nicely and it's roomier than any of the little "lunch" joints I've eaten around here. Very nice decor, everything comfortable and clean. It's hard to fault the service as we were the only ones in the restaurant! But let's get to the food. The reviews do not lie. Generous portions, presentation is very nice ... and yeah, the taste. The flavours were very good. Excellent variety on the menu too. I'd say there really isn't a lot of competition in the area, nor almost anywhere else in Vancouver. You'd have to head to Surrey to get equivalent or better. Our entire party was very satisfied and our tummies had no complaints even hours afterwards depsite being utterly stuffed. Maybe the one downside is the stuff seems to be prepared as ordered, so there is a bit of a wait. I can't really think of much to complain about, especially given the price point and target audience. Will definitely like to return here to sample the rest of the menu. Easy recommendation here. Unless you live in Surrey, this place is definitely worth the trip to get some great Indian food. Do yourself a favour and eat in, don't grab takeout and let the freshly made food get cold...
