After looking for a descent Asian restaurant in this small God for saken town, i was directed to this establishment. Now it's important to understand that the term quality or good good is greatly downplayed around here and because of this what you and I might find poor....these rednecks simply quantify as pretty damn good. As i walked in and went to find a booth i noticed i was the only one there. Still, it seemed my host was none to pleased to have to leave her video session on her laptop behind the counter. As i turned the isle to walk to my designated table, my host ran me down to shove a menue in my face before i sat down so as to not have to come all the way to my table. I sat down in a booth that was so worn out and old that it hurt my but to sit there and was so low and old that the table came up to and above my chest....i am 6 foot 2. After receiving a requested cola (an old one from the Santa Claus collection) i looked over the menu to see an 80's style Canadian menue complete with grilled cheese and a Canadian burger and on the other side was an even older 70's version if Chinese take out complete with moo goo gai pan and egg foo young. I asked if they had any gai lan or chinese broccoli and my host had no clue what that was. Lacking anything authentic in the Asian food department i settled with shanghai noodles, titled exactly with no added description. I asked if it included beef, broccoli, pork, chicken or anything else and my host went to ask. She said it had pork and that it was boiled and not broiled. After having beef included instead she went back in the kitchen and got in an argument with someone. In a moment a large healthy portion came to my table but the beauty was gone. Instead, the plate was certainly full if noodles and some beef but it had no carrots, no broccoli and barley some lettuce that was so small it was lost on the plate. Added to that the plate was smothered in oyster sauce. Now, i like oyster sauce but the noodles were completely degradated by so much sauce. It ruined the complexity of the noodle and made it look and taste like a lazy teenager opened up a package of frozen noodles and used all three packets of sauce for one serving. Added to this, my host never stepped out from behind her laptop to check on her 1 guest the whole time. If i have learned anything from this experience it's that there is absolutely almost nearly no place to eat (save one) that is halfway descent in Rocky Mountain House. The town reaks...
Read moreBest Chinese Take Out in Rocky Mountain House, order and pick up - everything is delicious! My go to for sure! Made fresh, flavourful, and I love the fact that every dish has its own flavor you can taste, NOT like other Chinese restaurants that cover everything in a tasteless thick batter. Deep Fried Shrimp being the exception- and it's...
Read moreThe Ritz Cafe is a well established institution in Rocky Mountain House. I haven't been around town much in the past 16 years, but Ritz Cafe seems more-or-less how I remember it. It was pretty quiet when I stopped by recently, but if you're looking for a small town Chinese restaurant experience (I often am) this place will...
