Edit to reply: Ok. Thanks for the reply, owner. I edited ur rating to 1 star. Because YOU need to learn to read. Never did I say that I was expecting less maki and more nigiri. I said the variety was poor, because you had a lineup of thoughtless maki rollers popping them out like a factory. A chef's choice should mean a chef selects the ingredients and makes a combination of different makis to make a good set. Not what you are doing. Next time, learn to accept valuable constructive criticisms End of edit.
It was ok. Kind of low quality sushi, though.
When you order sushi platter, they don't let you choose which you get. It is "chef's choice". Which I thought was like omakase, where a chef carefully chooses the rolls based on what is fresh, with a good mix of ingredients. No. This place is like a factory lineup. 7 people just making rolls continuously, and they just give you whatever is ready. That's how I ended up with half of my rolls being yam tempura rolls on a 50 piece platter. Might as well get your sushi pre-made at a grocery store. At least then it...
Read moreWe had a reservation but when we got there they were not ready for us! A group of young kids were behind us that got their table before us whom had reservation! We had to askkk for a table that suits with out needs with a baby which was strange to me considering that we already explained we have a baby when we called for the reservation. The food was great but the reservation part bugged the experience fully. Also the smoke of burned food from the kitchen was unpleasant
Update review: responding to the owner No sir/Madame You were just not ready There was no "reserved" sign on any table And your host just ignored us while we reserved a table which should not be the case when you RESERVE a table, restaurant was empty, yet she made us stand there for 15 mins while only 5 tables were taken Unacceptable You clearly don't know how the reservation system works cause the kids behind us whom haven't had a reservation got served before us (which is truly funny!) And for your strange comment I updated my...

A $100 Disappointment â What Happened to Masako?
I don't normally write reviews, but I couldn't stay silent after this experience. Masako Plus Sushi used to be one of my favorite spots in town. I always looked forward to the chef's selection of maki tartares - they were flavorful, balanced, and generously filled with tartare. This time? It felt like a completely different restaurant. The makis were 90% rice with barely any fish in them. I'm not exaggerating - there were bites with zero salmon at all. It was honestly shocking.
On top of that, the gyoza soups were missing their usual bok choy, another small sign of cut corners. The worst part? We paid over $100 for a meal that left us frustrated, unsatisfied, and honestly a little insulted.
I don't know what changed - management? supply issues? cost-cutting? â but the drop in quality is undeniable. I used to recommend Masako all the time, but after this, l'm not sure...
