Bob's Corner Take-Out — Restaurant in Saint John

Trust Me - I just left Bob's Take Out and feel totally nauseous. It was perhaps the worst fish and chips I have eaten. The batter was a thick mass of grease. The fish was dry, which suggests it was left outside the fridge or had sat out too long. The chips were more like chip crumbs short and stubby. The grease they were cooked in must have been quite old because they were nothing more then an emulsified concoction of fat. I think that this is the second time I written such a harsh review. It is done with the hope that the proprietors of this old establishments will renew and upgrade their standards. This is a simple dish, to make it appetizing and appealing is not difficult I hope the owners of this establishment will again take pride in serving this simple dish with more respect for people who trust them to make it...

Recently closed down for a period of time by the Provincial health & food inspector for good reason. I will never understand the 5 star reviews other than to say, Saint John restaurant "critics" are a weird lot. The picnic tables inside for seating are laced in grease; you might slide off your seat. When you arrive home, you feel in desperate need of a shower with Lysol. Exceptionally dirty establishment. But, for some unknown reason, those who like it, like it a lot. Those who rave about the fish and chips and clams have cleary never been to Ossies, Clam digger, Comeau's or any other of a handful of true seafood eateries. I love a good grease restaurant but -...

Went to Bob's because u gotta try the local independent restaurant when u travel. Also if ur out east u cant fo and NOT try some fish n chips. There was a total of 8 of us and we all ate and had a pop each and our bill was under $100 so price is great. Kids had clams n chips, fish n chips and of course chicken strips. They all loved em. Us adults had fish and clams which were amazing. A tad greasy but what isnt after deep frying. Fries were good but no room for them after u eat the fish. Portions r big too.
