I wanted to address the below response provided to my friend Shan regarding our experience at this restaurant last Saturday. First and foremost, we fully understand the challenges faced by small businesses, especially given the current economic environment, and we genuinely want to support local establishments. However, we left our review based on our factual experience, and I feel it's important to clarify a few points. While we acknowledge that Friday nights are typically busier, we took the proactive step of making a reservation in advance. We believe that customers have the right to be informed that there is a time constraint on their dining experience. We were unaware that we had only 1.5 hours for our meal, and this information would have been valuable when making our reservation. On the evening of our visit, all members of our party arrived at 6:25, and our meals were served at 6:50. Given that it was our first time at this restaurant, we were eager to explore the menu and order additional dishes to share. However, due to the time constraint, we refrained from ordering as much as we initially intended. At 7:25, we were informed that we had only 5 minutes remaining, and our table was being cleared without confirming if we had finished our meal. In my case, I ordered the hot tofu soup with rice and was unable to finish it, leaving a considerable amount of soup untouched. By 7:30, we found ourselves outside the restaurant, observing a queue forming. Regarding our overall experience, it was indeed unique, but regrettably, it may not lead us to revisit this restaurant regularly. In addition to our specific encounter, we found the prices to be slightly high when compared to the overall taste and...
Read moreGoing on the opening day, it was quiet with excellent service. Today, they do not have any alcohol, but their non-alcoholic drinks do make up for it.
The Pomelo Ade is definitely a "must have" during the hot summer weather as it is a citrus drink with a little fizz to give it the refreshing feel on a hot day.
The Tteokbokki taste spicy and comes with two Gimmari which are two deep-fried seaweed rolls filled with noodles I believe, a perfectly cooked egg, and a few "chips" on the side to scoop that spicy sauce. I would just come back for the Gimmari if it wasn't for the next item on the list.
Honestly, I haven't come across very many places that serve Dolsot Bibimbap well. Most of the time, some restaurants shove the Dolsot in the oven for a few minutes, throw a clump of rice in, and garnish the top. The rice would sometimes be super dry because they forgot to add oil, the bowl wouldn't be hot enough to cook the egg that they cooked part way, and worst of all, no crispy, crunchy, crusted rice. At MoonSikdang, I was super happy to find this was absolutely NOT the case! As the plate closed in on our table, I could hear it crackling! (Please also take into consideration that there were only 10-12 guests including ourselves in the restaurant). The fact that it kept sizzling for another 7-10 minutes before I mixed it together with the raw egg is a total plus, (incidently the egg cooked through without a shadow of a doubt. Though, you should mix it earlier if you may feel uneasy with this, or request it without the raw egg). If this crispy rice keeps up, this will become my new favorite Korean spot...

I am happy that I tried this restaurant a second time. Even though I still find the food quite expensive, around 27-30$ for a main plate, I really adored the flavour profile of their food. The marinated vegetables were tasty, the soup had a great balance of flavours without anything overpowering the others and the BBQ meats had a great charred flavour which was delicious. I also really enjoyed the vinegar and soya sauce mixture they served with the soup, it was great. The cute little salt and black pepper bottles shows how considerate they are and left the finap touch of seasoning up to the customers. Even though it was there, I didn't need them since the food already had delicious flavours. The service was decent. The waiter and waitress were polite but they seemed quite exhausted and distant when they were serving us. Also, the restaurant was completely full when we arrived so try to reserve a table before...
