For our 11th wedding anniversary, my wife and I decided to celebrate at Shoji restaurant in Brossard. From the moment we walked in, I was impressed by the Japanese ambiance—it's a beautifully decorated place that feels both elegant and welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel at ease right away.
I did mention to our server that we were celebrating our anniversary, but initially, nothing special was done to acknowledge it. At the end of the evening, they did surprise us with a complimentary shooter of sake to mark the occasion, which was a nice touch, even though it came a bit later than I expected.
Now, on to the food. I started with the Mango and Dragon Eye Maki, and I have to say, it was really good. The flavors were fresh, and the presentation was spot on. My wife ordered the Ichiban combo, and we both noticed how big the sushi pieces were compared to what you usually get elsewhere. This was a pleasant surprise—definitely more than we expected.
I also had the miso soup as an entrée, which was a nice, warm start to the meal. My wife opted for the octopus ceviche, but unfortunately, it arrived way later than expected. However, the staff handled it well by deciding not to charge us for it, which I appreciated. Despite the delay, the ceviche was delicious.
Shoji isn’t cheap, but the portions are generous, and the freshness of the ingredients really stands out. In my opinion, the price is justified given the quality and the experience. This is definitely a restaurant I’d keep in mind for special occasions or a nice date night.
Overall, we had a great time at Shoji. Despite a couple hiccups, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere made it a memorable evening. Thanks to the staff for the great service and compliment to the kitchen staff for their work ethic that really translates in the food they presented to us.
I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a quality dining experience...

The shrimp in the sushi wasn’t fully peeled so we got bits and pieces of shell every other bite and the rice was hot. Waited another 20 mins for another roll that was ordered at the same time as everything else (but I guess the waiter forgot about it since we had to ask) just for the order to come out wrong (we confirmed the order twice). At this point, we didn't have any more time to waste so we just asked for the bill. Took 10 mins to get the waiter’s attention to return the wrong order and another 10 to actually get the bill and pay. At some point, the waiter accidentally dipped his sleeve into our soy sauce dish so we asked for it to be replaced (didn’t tell him the reason to avoid any embarrassment) but it did not get done until much later (when we asked a second time). He also informed us at a later time that certain items we ordered weren't available and asked if we'd like to have anything replaced (which could've been done sooner or during the ordering process instead of when he was serving us the food). Since it would mean we'd have to wait forever for the food to arrive, we decided it wouldn't be worth it to order more, even if that meant we wouldn't be completely full from the meal. This was my first time spending the full 2 hours they allocate for reservations under COVID restriction. Not out of my own will, but due to the extremely slow service. For a $60+ meal, this was definitely not worth it. Will not be revisiting.

Read more2nd time to this sushi. Owner-Chef serves with beautiful plate and set up. The service speed can be improved. The waitering service is really below average and needs more improvement. We are 6 adults and 2 kids, was about to get 6 Omakase menu @$50/head and after talking with waiter I have changed my mind and going "a la carte". It doesn't seem that waiter knows well his product, needs to always going back to chef for questions and many special items isn't available. My bottle of wine was on table for 30min without been open nor served, so I guess it's a "bring your own wine and serve yourself, don't forget to bring your own opener type of restaurant!!" Glad to have the hot tea served on table so that for the rest of night, my empty water glass AND wine glass isn't too obvious nor disturbing. Order a bunch of soups, salads, hot appetizers and sashimi appetizers from special menu. Big a la carte sashimi selections. A few handrolls and makis. $450 spend for 8. I couldn't take any pictures of food because every plate will be served and finished within 30 seconds, especially each services is within 5-10min gap.
