I have never lived a worse resto experience of my life. I work in the industry at a high end montreal steak house and know about service and restaurant business. We had made 2 reservations of 4 and upon arrival as they saw we were all together told us we could not be seated at 2 tables close by (because we know eachother) It was very hard for us to understand how it was better to sit next to complete strangers instead of the same people we were already in the car with. The hostess went to get the manager who instead of handling the situation professionally, came up to us and said what’s the problem? We explained there’s no problem we were simply trying to understand this non sense. She explained that if they sat us next to eachother we would “talk”. She went on to say that we had 2 options. Either stay and accept the procedures or leave. And repeated another 2 times “si vous etes pas content allez vous en”. With 15 years experience in the hospitality industry, I know one thing you never do is speak to customers that way. Had it been up to me only I would have left then but the decision wasn’t mine so we proceeded to take a seat. After seating we witnessed some people from 2 different tables talking together. We were commenting between us about the fact that it didn’t make sense and our waitress felt like she had the right to get involved in our private conversation. She said I heard you guys talk and just letting you know that these people don’t know eachother. So that makes it okay for them but not for us??? The conversation then Became argumentative as we had been disrespected once too many times. Eventually we just decided to let it go so we could try to enjoy our night. The waitress then came to me with the bill for my martini. The bill that I had not asked for and the martini that I had not drank from! I have never seen this level of unprofessionalism in a restaurant before! Although the food is amazing I suggest you avoid this place at all cost!!!! Read moreWe didn't really get to have an experience at this restaurant so I will just say what did happen. My husband and I were visiting from the states this past weekend and my mother who just moved into st. Saveur wanted to take us out to lunch. We chose Maestro because it looked wonderful. Looks are very deceiving!!!! There were some patrons in the restaurant but not that many that someone could not take the time to seat us in a timely fashion. It took 3 people asking us if we wanted a table before one very nice girl finally seated us. 2 people who worked there clearly made it seem like we were not welcome. After 15 minutes of waiting we finally received a menu along with the wine list. And again after 15 minutes no one came to take our order. We could see our waitress standing at the bar not doing anything and not once did she come over to see if we were ready, see if we had any questions or just even look over at us. We could understand if this was a busy time but it was not. Finally after 1/2 hour of waiting we got up and walked out. Read moreThe last time we ate here was maybe 12 years ago. At the time I felt it was good, but maybe just average. How things have changed. The menu is excellent. Diverse with many options. Great cocktails and nice wine list. Service was timely - they didn’t miss a beat. For starters we had the Foie Gras Crème Brûlée and it was FANTASTIC. Also shared the roquette salad. Perfect. I had the veal limon w linguini and it was amazing. My wife had the Crevettes Shanghai and it was a solid 10/10. Dessert was the Chocolat Fondant. OMG. The best!! A shout out to our server Frederique who was wonderful, attentive and on top of her game. 10/10. In fact a big shout out to the entire team.
