Lady who took our order and served us was really nice and sweet. We got the $19.99 2 piece cod fish and chips (half eaten in pic) and the $15.99 oyster po boy.

We both enjoyed the cod fish which was well battered, crisp, had good flavour, and a hold to the fish which I feel you don’t always get with cod at most fish and chips places. Fries/chips were quite a hefty amount. Not too flavourful to us and maybe needed a lil more salt but we were able to add ourselves. Have good texture tho. Partner said fried oysters were prob the best he’s ever had. I wasn’t a fan but never had fried oysters before so maybe I just prefer them fresh.

Their menu isn’t too descriptive which isn’t necessarily a flaw but did hinder my enjoyment a little. My taste buds are weak so the po boy was unexpectedly spicy having a Siracha mayo? sauce on the bun. It also had pickles and raw onions which I can’t eat but thankfully could pass to my partner so they weren’t wasted. Tho to be fair my food needs make me a pickier customer than most 🥲. I also didn’t understand the sauce that came with the po boy, didn’t seem like it did much flavour-wise or added to anything to the meal.

If we had more time on the island, would give this another go to try other things on their menu! (Or just for more of that...

We went here on recommendation to purchase some fish for supper. Purchased X3 of the shrimp skewers and a piece of cod, service was excellent and that is where it ends. Upon returning to our cabin, we opened the packet of shrimp skewers and the smell was overpowering as the shrimp was bad to begin with and the cod was dry and yellow on the bottom. Returned the following day and had no problems getting a refund. The owner said to us that he knew the shrimp was on it's last legs and that is why he suggested we bought the large bag of frozen ones, couldn't believe what we heard. The other half of the cod that we bought was still in the cooler and we made him pull that so that no one bought mistakenly. Please be aware and buy elsewhere, the fish at Thrifty looked...

Stopped here recently for some fish and chips and couldn't have been happier. We were so hungry that I only took one picture before eating the whole order, but they were absolutely delicious! Very crispy batter and the fish were moist and flakey; with a good serving of chips and sides. I want to say thank you to the chef who made our order. We originally wanted two orders of the salmon, but he only had enough for one (the rest was still thawing), not a problem, I got an order of cod instead. When he gave us our order, he had generously gave me an extra small peice of salmon with my cod order, just so I could enjoy some. Very thoughtful and appreciative! Thank you, so much for your awesome food and hospitality. Hope to be back...

This place was such a delight after a hot day on the island of exploring and swimming in the ocean. The service was fast for such a small place, and the staff was friendly. I ordered two halibut tacos and they were absolutely delicious. The halibut was fresh and crispy, the coleslaw was tasty and refreshing…it was simply the perfect taco to end a day on the island. And so filling! Not to mention that we had great views of the harbor sitting on the patio, and the reggae playlist really elevated the vacation vibe. I finished off my meal with some soft serve and it was summer bliss. Truly a hidden gem of Saltspring!
