One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. After a long drive to get to Sarnia, my group of five drove around and decided we would have dinner at Kitano. When we arrived we said we were a group of five. The restaurant was half empty and it was around 7:30pm. The waitress said it would be a few minutes to set up a table, we said okay, we had no problem waiting. As soon as the waitress left to set up the table, a man working behind the counter rudely said to me that next time I come to the restaurant I need to make a reservation if we are a group of 5. I noted that the other couple who were in around the same time as us did not have a reservation. He shook his head and said to make a reservation next time. Hi tone and body language was rude and offensive. The waitress then came and seated us. I asked her if that man was the manager, she said yes. I asked if a reservation was usually required to attend this restaurant, she said no. I asked if groups of five needed a reservation on regular basis, she said no. After I told her what the manager had said, she started apologizing for him.
For a restaurant where most menu items are less than $20, that was half empty, and along the boarder where they likely get plenty of business from passersby who don't have a restriction, I can't understand why their "manager" would be so rude. He certainly ruined my night, there will never be a "next time" or any opportunity for a future reservation. In the service industry, which this restaurant is, you do not benefit your business by being condescending to customers and insinuating that you do not want them there.
I'm offended that I and my group was treated so poorly, and by Kitano's manager of all people. I wouldn't consider spending a dime in that restaurant, extremely poor...
Read moreOK but Have Had better...Came in for the advertised lunch special at 3:0 but was told it ended at 2:30. The guy managing was testy and unsmiling, and begrudgingly answered my questions about the menu, and was unwillilling to suggest anything off the menu.. He warmed up a tad after I ordered. Tbe miso soup was delicious and I enjoyed the complimentary green tea and the little side salad good but the dressing a bit blah and watery. I ordered the Spider Crab roll for $12 99.I was expecting the soft-shelled crad and a ocado, like the menu said but if there was crab, it was a miniscule amount totally hidden in tempura and of the 6 pie as of sushi, I only noticed the tempura minus cab in half the pieces and could not tell if there was avoc ado. I had much better sushi at two different restaurants this summer in Victoria, BC and , truthfully, enjoyed the handmade sushi from the Superstore more, as it had more seafood and avocado in it. I was still hungry so I wanted green tea or wasabi or red bean ice cream but was told the freezer had broken a week prior, however they did have deep-fried green tea ice cream for double the cost, $6 99.It was not bad, but a bit richer than I had wanted..The waitress came at dessert time and was friendly and helpful. When I left, I said good bye to both (I was the only customer in the place) but only the waitress bid me good bye. The pricing was what I expected but I had hoped for outstanding sushi, but unfortunately,...

Biggest disappointment in a while! (Like, years...)
Decided to try it out with a view to finding a go-to place for my weekly sushi fix and our monthly staff lunch. Parked at the side and couldn't get through the "security gates" at the front (felt like I was in East Germany - you've got to see this ridiculous setup to believe it!) despite lots of "Open" signs out front but nothing telling you how you could actually get in! Finally got through the back door.
4 people there at 1:20pm...and one of the most "surly" (I'm trying to be kind) waitresses who couldn't answer a simple question ("Is this AYCE or a-la-carte?") without being sarcastic. And when I asked for the manager muttered "whatev..." and walked away.
Decided to leave without ordering, but couldn't get out the locked back door ("b...chy girl" hollered "you can just leave this way..." pointing to the front before walking away). Walked through the maze of iron gates to get back to my car 5 minutes later.
They may have the best food in the world (HIGHLY UNLIKELY GIVEN HOW LITTLE THEY CARE ABOUT THE REST OF YOUR EXPERIENCE) but I won't know - and neither will anyone I talk to. Because this place will probably (and should be) out of business in the next...
