Sophia's Diner — Restaurant in Sarnia

I hit up Sophia's mid afternoon with a friend and we were the only customers. The service was amazing, the cook was happy to make some adjustments to my order and the food was perfect. Cannot wait to go back.

However..... when I was walking through the parking lot to my car, an old man parked in a car across the street started yelling and waving at me. I walked faster. He started honking his horn at me. I got in my car, he got out of his and came toward me. Through a window open an inch, he said his name is Nick, he's the owner, and he wanted to know how the service was. The group I was with decided to go here for our dinner... Staff was very polite but and this is a big but our server had told us that everything was made in house... Well it wasn't I had ordered the bacon cheeseburger deluxe that came with coleslaw and fries. Well the Burger was a store bought Angus burger that I can buy from any groceries store, the fries where frozen fries from a whole sale retailer, the coleslaw was also store bought and not good it came warm.

Something else I had noticed is that the general age demographic seemed to be over 60 years of age.

My biggest issue is that we had been told (EVERYTHING WAS MADE IN HOUSE) how in the hell do you have the right to make a statement like this when 90% of what your serving is either store...

I have been wanting to go to Sophia's diner for the past year whenever I get a chance to travel to Sarnia. This week I finally had the chance to go.. and I was super impressed !! The food was delicious, fresh and reasonably priced for real home cooked meals. The server was friendly and answered all my questions. Their daily specials were really good. I ordered the Sunday special steak and it was delicious. Melted in my mouth. I've been to other steak restaurants and Sophia's was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. My partner ordered the fish and chips and the fish was also fresh not frozen. I would recommend Sophia's Diner to everyone !
