Lake View Grill — Restaurant in Saskatchewan

I love coming here whenever I’m in cypress hills in the summer. The food is always delicious, fresh and plentiful. Some customers mention they only take cash but they now have a machine you can tap at the til so that shouldn’t be an issue anymore. I was super impressed with the service on the august long weekend. The place was packed but the server was still super friendly, gracious, helpful and kind to everyone. We ordered the taco beef wrap, veggie quesadilla and the cheddar bacon burger and everything was super tasty and fresh. The fries are the coated kind (not fresh cut) but hold their heat and crunch well. Loved the dip that came with the sweet potato fries. They really pay attention to the details here. And, of course, that view....

The beer was delicious, location was great and the poutine was tasty. However.. They’re cash only - with an incredibly expensive cash machine right beside the till. They literally put a handful of 20s in the machine so that I could withdraw cash to pay them. They have decent internet (that’s why I was there), so having a Square or any other device (which are almost free BTW) was totally possible. On top of that - the beer, tiny poutine and tip was $26. I get it’s a resort town, but considering the $3.50 debit fee I paid to recycle their cash out of the machine, it was too much. I know restaurants are stretched right now, the cost of my visit explained why I was one of only three customers on a pretty busy day...

If I could give more stars for each of these categories, I would!! The chef/server was super friendly and the breakfast that my husband and I ordered was like eating a taste of Heaven! We were still talking about it the next morning! The food in this cafe is far better than some restaurants I’ve been to! Whether we come for breakfast, lunch or dinner the food and service are always excellent! I highly recommend this place! If you sit on the patio, you have the beautiful view of Loch Leven and you can bring your dog in there with you. We will be there next year and every year after,...
