Downey's Golden Sheaf Bakery — Restaurant in Saskatoon

So at 9 am asked Owners Daughter do you have FRESH bread ? What a rude question to ask a bakery .. she was pissed right away telling me they bake every day but then freeze it and sell frozen bread . !!! I asked about FRESH and she explained that they bake every day but not all kinds of breads . So OK … what do you have fresh today ( as you said you bake every day ) .:.Nothing … OK when is the best time to come for fresh bread !!! That was me crossing. The line . She got mad and asked me “ are you wanting to buy ? And suggested to go to another bakery. ..Otherwise I already had product ready for payment ) the owners daughter told me to go some were else if I don’t like it !!!! The owner came out and told me to come tomorrow /. So if you want fresh FROZEN baked every day this is the bakery to go too .. extraordinary poor service from the owners Daughter .. NO respect for the customers , she does not care that you came to the bakery to buy hopefully fresh baked goods . The donuts look fresh . But everything else could be old several days or even more the. Unfrozen … this is REALLY not what I expected...

We love this bakery! It's so close to our house that I can walk there with my son. The owner is very friendly and knows who we are. She always says hello to my little guy when he comes in with me. It's a great place to grab a donut and go as the table is up against the front window with barstools & the donut counter on right behind the stools so it can get crowded. My son's favourite donut is the Apple Pie Fritter, he loves that the apples inside aren't too...

The brothers that own the bakery are great guys! They love what they do and it shows in the quality of their baking. We use their product at The Caesar Mill in Martensville! They are alot more convenient bakeries for us, but we will go for the best that we can find. We found that at Downey's. If you are walking there with your dog, they may just have a treat for your canine...
