Fixin's Homestyle Eatery — Restaurant in Saskatoon

We ate here for dinner tonight during our second night stay at the adjoining hotel Travelodge. The service was awesome, very attentive and friendly server. It was my birthday and the staff joined my family in making it a special end to the day, it was sweet. The food I had was wonderful. I tried the herb crusted tilapia with pico de gallo and it was perfectly cooked with delicious flavors. It came with a baked potato with the usual toppings on the side to add and some vegetables, the sides were simple and good. I also had a French onion soup as my appetizer. It was perfect for French onion soup. My families dishes were great as well, just kids meal fish and chips and chicken tenders with soup which they loved and also a blackened mango chicken which was delish too. The white chocolate brownie for desert was sooo wonderful. Yum! The mai tais were perfect too. I'm happy we just decided to stick around the hotel for a meal because Fixin did not disappoint:)

Ate here for breakfast. Older women served us. Took our order, no problem. When she arrived with our food, she gave me the bill and asked, "How would we like to pay?" I said maybe let us eat first, like any other restaurant. She said, "yes, when you're ready, I'll come to you with the machine". I said sure. A little more that halfway done (my children had lots of food left on their plates still), she came back with the debit machine. I said, let us finish first. I was so upset and thought maybe because we were Indigenous that she wanted us to pay for service first. Everyone else (who aren't Indigenous) got up and paid when they were done. Ethnic group aside, maybe we looked like the type to dine and dash? Clearly not. Food was awful. I expected frozen McCain fries but the salad and fries I ordered were all I could eat on the menu. Salad came out spoiled and rotten. The manager didn’t seem to understand certain people have specific dietary needs, also once you’re served rotten food you’re not really interested in trying your chances with another rotten meal. Service was so slow, we actually thought about just leaving before the food got there. Once we got the food the cutlery was filthy.
