I’m not from Port Elgin, and the other Swiss Chalets I go to where I live are 5+ stars so this location had a lot to live up to.
I ordered online via the app. I’m glad I did because my order was ready when I got there but I still did have to wait in line. It was about 6:00pm on Thursday. The restaurant was pretty busy, and the lineup was about 6 people deep. The line was moving at a snails pace. I could tell people were feeling impatient.
When I got to the counter, the server was kind and prompt, handed me my order and I was outta there. If I were to do it again I would probably have just done drive through because my home locations don’t have drive through. I personally think they should only have drive through for Harvey’s and not for the Swiss Chalet side. All in all I think these new store concepts failed big time. There’s a lot of room for improvement from the customers standpoint.
Our order was hot and fresh but my biggest gripe was that they served us Harvey’s fries. I hate to complain about something that seems so small, but 80% of the reason I go to Swiss Chalet is for their fries. They are the best!!! So that was a HUGE disappointment. The other person dining with me didn’t mind and the portion was very generous. But ultimately I was disappointed. The chicken was drier than usual as well.
I’ll always love Swiss Chalet but I guess you just have to be picky about the location...
Read moreAlways order a quarter chicken white with a baked potato. Had to wait for potato for 15 min. Ordered a large caeser which is a meal sized salad (charged for large)and was given a side salad (size). This has happened twice. Not sure why. Hence the review. I insist on getting what I pay for and if large salads aren't available then stop charging for them.
Edit:
I got so fed up that I came back 9 months later and edited my review and made it worse. Why? Every time I go here, without fail, they don't have something. They run out of chicken 1.5hrs before close. How does Swiss chalet run out of chicken? That's what they sell! Or they run out of baked potato. Or they run out of salads. Literally every single time I come to this restaurant, or even place an order for pickup, I'm disappointed and I kept coming back because when it's good, it's great. I just don't understand how a kitchen can run out of the same food, day in and day out, and just keep doing it. Is management under strict waste rules? It's infuriating to place an order and then go to get it, arrive and then be told sorry we don't have any chicken, or we don't have any potatoes. Come on guys. The kitchen manager needs to pay attention because this is...
Read moreUpdate: I was contacted by the owner of this establishment and he was very apologetic and really nice and is sending me a full meal that I wanted in the first place so I’m very happy with the way my complaint was dealt with the owner was really nice person so I feel I should forgive the establishment and will take it that we all have bad days this just happen to be theirs
I’m totally disgusted with my treatment today asked for 17.99 chicken platter .. oh we don’t have the chicken as we had a big order … okay that’s a you issue not mine so asked what can we do maybe switch chicken for ribs also wanted a loaded backed potato which I knew was extra so my simple chicken dinner has now turned into a $26.99 dinner but I got pie for two bucks woopie got back to work over the road and not only did it cost me more than I wanted to pay but didn’t get the loaded potato as requested went back and yes I’m annoyed manager was no help and wouldn’t give me a loaded potato that I asked for in the first place …. Thinking upsetting your locals is not a good move especially as we are still here when the holiday makers are gone and word spreads fast won’t be using you again I’m disgusted at $26.00 price...
