Taco Republic — Restaurant in Sechelt

Really flavourful carnitas, tequila lime chicken and barbacoa. The salsa verde and jalapeño salsa are really good too. You can try 3 different types of tacos if you want (orders are usually 3 tacos). Several salsas to choose from. They were really accommodating when I asked for a custom order for my toddlers (quesadillas with just carnitas and cheese since they won't eat salsa, etc and less messy too). The little fusspots actually ate every last crumb and I had to order more for them. Hubby is vegan and he enjoyed his meal too. I think the black beans could use a bit more soaking or cooking to soften them up a bit but I appreciate that they make the effort to use dried not canned. The staff that were there at the time were wonderful and it was a good environment for a quick meal with the kiddos. So nice to have something not deep-fried and prepackaged to feed the kids when out and about in Sechelt and it kept us full long enough to enjoy several hours at the beach. Unpretentious, fresh and tasty! You can't go wrong with carnitas in a taco, a burrito or BETTER YET go for the wet burrito. It's the priciest but gives the most savory taste in your mouth.

As long as you don't expect authentic tacos here, you'll be good. No pickled onions to be found. But the meats such as barbacoa and carnitas are cooked slowly and beautifully. Protein portions are generous.

The owners' creative touch show up in Pinoy pork adobo. Get it in the bowl and do yourself a favour - no salsa. The vinegar in the meat is enough acid and the adobo is punchy.

Ok, so before I went to this taco store, I was warned "they ain't that good" like seriously!! Absolutely fantastic food! Just had the tequila chicken burrito! Amazing!! Like there is a party in your mouth, everyone is invited and no one has wiped their feet!!! Sooo many flavours and textures! Super fresh and toasted right in front of you.
