As a special dinner on the last night of our trip to the Sunshine Coast, my parents wanted to take their 3 grandkids to a special Italian dinner. They were excited to hear that the well-recommended Old Boot Eatery was able to accommodate their reservation request on a busy Sat night. They were seated quickly and orders taken promptly. 3 kids meals, 1 pasta entree, 1 pizza, 2 glasses of wine. It took 1h for the food to arrive, only after asking at the 45min mark what the status was. The entrees were mediocre at best. The kids pasta was terrible. It was watery to the point that the kids thought it was soup. My parents showed the server and said "the kids pasta are so watery" (and the kids used their forks to lift the noodles to show the watery goop remaining. My parents did also say "but the pizza is ok". The server simply said "oh ok" and scurried off. My parents paid a total of almost $100 for everything. Each kids meal was $10 (although the website states $8/kids meal), so $30 of a $100 is wuote significant. My parents didn't want to make a fuss, especially with the grandkids. In fact, when they got home they didn't say anything about this, but the kids were so disappointed with their watery pasta that this was all they could talk about. For a locally run, independently owned family restaurant, this experience was extremely disappointing to say the least. No apologies were made for the long wait and no attempts to make up for the terrible food were made. Maybe if the restaurant wasn't as busy it would be different, but busy times should be accounted for in terms of staffing and should really have minimal minimal effects on the quality of food. My family will not be coming back here at all nor will we...
Read moreWe went there to celebrate my birthday on Aug 31st. Waitress was 'bothered" that we asked her to review the specials with us as two were uncertain if their choice was in fact what they wanted. Ordered our meals. Had a toddler with us. All the adults food came and we waited for toddlers food. She started fussing. Was hungry. We could NOT share our meal because it was too spicey for the toddler. Stopped another waitress and asked about the toddlers order. Shortly after that our waitress came with the toddler plate and another plate to put the toddler food on cause it was way too hot to eat. The mother had to put her plate aside and BLOW on the spaghetti to make it cool enough. By this point BOTH the father, mother and I were extremly annoyed. Toddler fussed and mother left the restaurant to sit in the car. Mother's food was pretty much untouched. Boxed it and we left. NO tip. Too bad, what I had eaten before bixing it was very goid. But the festive mood was...
