I recently visited this café with my sister. I unfortunately experienced something that left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed. I live with hearing loss — an invisible disability — and didn’t hear when the counter staff greeted me. My sister was ahead of me placing her order, and while I was focused on the menu, I noticed two staff members snickering and looking in my direction. My sister later confirmed they had made a comment about me, then deliberately ignored me and moved on to assist the customers behind me. It was upsetting, not just because of the moment itself, but because it reflects a lack of compassion and understanding — especially in a busy café setting, where staff encounter all kinds of people every day. Not all disabilities are visible. A bit of empathy and patience goes a long way, especially in customer service roles. I hope the management takes this as an opportunity to remind staff of the importance of inclusivity and kindness. I took a photo of the two staff members involved in this interaction.

The latte here is definitely a highlight, boasting a rich and satisfying flavor profile. What's even better is that the large-sized latte comes at a very reasonable price, and it's generously topped with creamy foam, adding to the overall indulgence. On the flip side, while the coffee impresses, the bakery items are somewhat less remarkable. Their flavors are somewhat run-of-the-mill, not quite reaching the same level of excellence as their coffee offerings. One notable advantage is their early opening time, starting at 6:30 am. This makes it a perfect choice for those who like to kickstart their day bright and early. Whether you're an early riser in search of a caffeine boost or simply seeking a peaceful morning spot, this café has you covered.

This cafe is owned & operated by a lovely, local family and the vibe was perfect. Came in because of the raven carving (by local artist, Steve Stevenson) & so 😀 we did! Great coffee & muffins (tip: the day-old baked goods, warmed up, are just as good as fresh). I also tried the rhubarb bar but prefer a higher filling-to-oat layer ratio. Went back the next day to grab pastries and a sandwich for the ferry journey home. Great selection includes cookies, whole loaves of bread (organic sourdough 😋), cinnamon rolls, pastries, muffins, scones, pies, desserts, tarts, breakfast croissants... Self-serve water station. Walking distance to the park & pier. Indoor & outdoor seating. Limited outlet access for charging devices.
