Simply put, the best Eggs Benny I’ve ever had. It makes me sad that my hometown favourite from my teen years (Michael’s Off Main, Courtenay) has been dethroned, yet excited I can continue to get the new top choice. Their unique take with a fresh, moist, tender yet crisp biscuit is the star of the dish. The house made bacon jam and melted halloumi, with fried tomato, was the icing on the cake. Everything about the Benny is executed perfectly, both the egg yolks had that ideal jammy consistency, and the hollandaise was creamy yet not heavy. If I had to critique one thing, the oven roasted hash could have been a bit crispier, but when topped with their house made spicy ketchup it didn’t really matter.

Came here to grab some brunch on a Monday morning. Ordered the Sergio Biscuit Sandwich & the Basted Baker Hash! The biscuit sandwich didn't disappoint if you're looking for something heavier to fuel up for the day. We ordered half the hash and it was still pretty filling. They've also got some bomb-looking baked goods by the bar, which all seems really delicious. For the time we spent there, saw a lot of customer getting their Chocolate Banana Turnover and Carrot Cake as well!

The coast is small, and there is not a lot of breakfast offerings, nor need there be..

These guys however do SUCH A GOOD JOB on everything, they are simply the spot to go in the mornings. I've tried pretty much everything up here, and these guys may not have the scenic sit down and watch the waves-esque-ness that some places do, but those places also do not have an unbelievable selection of made in house baking that truly bursts with flavor and love that Basted Baker does either!

Their coffee? The best. There is like 10 places you could get coffee up here, and when you are travelling and you get up and want a cup - you want that cup to be GOOD! You can't go wrong stopping by here for coffee.

The eggs benny's must be tried, Basted makes their own built from scratch biscuits they tower high with local farm fresh coast eggs and garden fresh ingredients. On the side we have Basted's HOUSE MADE KETCHUP. Yes folks, you read right: speciality home made ketchup. Forget the guys up the street sliding a bottle of Heinz your way. Basted has a delectable sweet and tangy thick house made of amazingness that takes each bite up to new heights.

I kid you not.

I've been up to the coast enough times now to know that if I am hungry, and it is the morning - I am going to Basted Baker. I am not going anywhere else, because if I do... then I will just wish I went to Basted Baker instead. Thanks guys - you have a superb spot up there and I hope it remains for all future...

Had brunch here today, and the food is amazing.

I had a full order of the Huevos rancheros, and I was not disappointed. If it had meat options, it would have been phenomenal.

My wife had a half order of the pulled pork Benny, and it was also scrumptious. I had a taste of it and enjoyed the flavours. It comes over roasted hashbrowns, which were very tasty.

Of course, what is brunch without their very rich and flavourful coffee hellooo.

We also had the carrot cake and the cinnamon swirl to go, and they were both tasty treats.

The service is nothing special. When we were done I stacked the plates with the garbage and cup and the waitress kept coming by to deliver other people's orders and not once asked if she could take the plates away (even though it was obvious that we were finsihed), they never checked in to see how the food was or if we needed anything else.

I am not a fan of having to pay for your meal AND adding a tip without knowing what the food tastes like and what the service is like. I mean, come on. You tip based on your experience, and although our culinary experience was great, the service left much to be desired, and having known that I would have never tipped as much. For this reason, I give it a 4 star.

Don't get me wrong, I will come back again and try a different dish. However, I won't tip ahead. Instead, I will leave a tip on the table, based on...

You gotta try the Smoked Salmon spinach & tomato eggs benny. OMG they were so much better than I expected!!

Many places offer up eggs benny that are so mediocre, and I didn't want to get my hopes up. Fortunately this place makes a GREAT eggs benny, and one of the nicest hollandaise sauces I have ever tasted. Hats off to the Chef!

Beware though; get the half order, these things are big. However, I did manage to scarf them both down. I was stuffed. The hash browns were pretty tasty and piping hot too, but I couldn't eat them all.

My wife had the hand pie, it was tasty too, but in our opinion needed more filling. A lot of people were ordering the bowls, they looked really good. Maybe next time

They make a great Americano, and the sticky buns are worth at return trip, when you have more room.

The service is kind of cafeteria like, you place the order and they call you when it is ready. We ordered three things, and they called us up to collect our items one at a time, but brought my eggs benny to the table. By the time it arrived my coffee was cold and my wife had finished her meal, and had already ordered an Americano and a sticky bun. . . . I think they need to work on their timing a bit :\

I will say that I thought everything was a little expensive, $18 for eggs benny and hash browns, they are really...
