I was completely shocked by the food preparation area.
Cooks have gloves in but never wash their hands (or these gloves). They handle food (raw meat, vegetables, seafood) going from one to the other without washing hands. They touch the oven, the mop, the dishes, the counters, the food again without washing hands. The cooking utensils are kept in common containers filled with water so you have the ice cream spoon covered in old mashed potatoes and dirty water used for scooping a fresh batch of mashed potatoes. The guy cutting the steaks for presentation was using a dirty rag to press on the meat to hold it down while he was cutting it.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. That degree of cross contamination is reckless. Everyone involved should really redo their training in food conservation and preparation. This is a public health problem waiting to happen.
Remove the gloves, wash the hands frequently, raw or undercooked fish and meat should never have contact (even indirect) with cooked, ready to serve meals or with raw products like salads. Buy more than one utensil for service and wash them properly and frequently between uses.
Please address these issues. You have many customers: their health and welfare depend on your knowledge & implementation of safe food preparation basics.
Otherwise the waiters were very nice and attentive. The restaurant looks nice and animated. I think they have nice reviews, so the food likely tastes good. But you really need to fix the food prep issues asap.
Changez...
Read moreEdited March 25th 2023: Today was our fourth visit at the Boefish and it was as good as it was the first time. Sometimes you might have a good experience in a restaurant however when you go back a year or so later you might be disappointed because the food is not as as good as your first time, well let me tell you that's not the case with Boefish, this place is consistant with the taste and the quality of their food as well as the service. Their steaks are some of the best in the province (we know what good steaks are, we're from Alberta), their ravioli, their Ceasar salads, their fois gras, their desserts are just delicious. Our waiter, Yakub (I hope that's how you spell his name) was one of the best server we ever had in a restaurant. He's attentive without being overbearing, he's polite, he's nice and funny, we had a great time with him. We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday and he made sure that it was acknowledged. We live an hour away from Boefish but it's well worth the drive. I've been recommending this restaurant for the past 5 years and I'll keep on recommending it, cause it's an amazing place. I can't wait to come back again.
Wow what an experience! The food is excellent as well as the service and the atmosphere. Everything we had was delicious, foie gras and Caesar salad as our appetizers then raviolis and rib steak as our main, were to die for. We live an hour away from Boefish but will definitely come back again and again. We classify this place as our new favorite restaurant. Unlike a lot of people who thinks that it's expensive, I think the price is very reasonable for the quality of food you get. I've eaten in places where they charged me the same price for mediocre food. Next time on the menu, Tomahawk steaks,...
Read moreI had a truly baffling experience at Boefish that I simply must share. Unfortunately, I can't provide a review of the food because we never got the chance to eat. It's a shame because, as we walked in at around 5:30, the restaurant was virtually empty. You'd think this would make the experience smoother, but no.
We asked for a table for two and the perplexed look on the staff's faces was evident. We didn't have a reservation, but it was Wednesday night in Sherbrooke, for goodness' sake. Shouldn't be a problem, right? Apparently, it was.
After much deliberation, they suggested seating us right in front of the kitchen door. Keep in mind; the place was practically deserted. We dared to ask for a table just two feet away, and they told us it was reserved. Fair enough, we thought, and asked for the table to our right - literally one table over. But, lo and behold, they claimed they had no waitress for that table. It was practically within arm's reach!
Now, let's talk about the table that was supposedly reserved. A couple walked in and mentioned they had a reservation, and you won't believe it - they were promptly seated at the very table we had initially requested. They clearly hadn't made this specific request. So, a burning question arises - are those with reservations of higher value than us mere walk-ins?
In the end, we decided this was a battle not worth fighting. We promptly left and enjoyed a delicious pizza across the street. It's a shame that we didn't get to taste Boefish's food, but based on our baffling experience, I can't say I'm too...
