This place looks like it has some great reviews and a good following. I've been in about four or five times in the past year.
They are kind of rude and abrasive with you. Honestly, if you don't recognize me, I'm not a regular, I don't know your menu. Help me out. Each time I go, I order a donair combo. I'm met with "combo-what?" In reply each time. You could just ask if I want fries or onion rings, it's not that hard to be a little polite. If you want anything other than LTO, they seem to have a hard time figuring it out. The lady seems annoyed at taking your order, and it seems like a big inconvenience to take your money. I don't need you to fake a smile, but it really looks like you don't like new customers. Maybe up your customer service a little and you won't get bad reviews like this.
The donair is mediocre. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing special. Meat and sauce are okay. Little light on the veggies, but you aren't going to a donair shop for veggies anyway. Nice and tightly wrapped pita, they really have been doing this a long time. The fries have been consistently underdone, and under seasoned. Never had under seasoned fries at a donair shop before. Price is about 15 for a combo.
I feel like they had a golden age at some point, and got a regular following. Seems to me the golden age is over. Lots of donair to be had in this...
Read moreI consider myself something of a connoisseur when it comes to donairs. I even make my own and have developed a recipe over the years.
I went to Rob's Donair for the first time today. Pretty easy to find.
My order was taken fairly quickly and I chose the super Donair with lettuce, tomatoes , onions and the sweet sauce. It took about 5 minutes, the meat was not carved off of a spit, rather was sitting on the flat top, this seems to be more and more common these days. I prefer it to be cut from the stick myself because it adds to the texture. There was good flavor and the toppings were fresh and tasty. The pita itself seemed to be steamed and was nice and pliable. I usually prefer my meat to be a little bit more crispy hence liking it off the stick it but overall it was definitely better than satisfactory.
The price was definitely on par with most Donair shops in the area. The service was quick and efficient and the owner although I didn't really talk to him seemed very friendly.
The only downside is that there were a group of about 5 people hooting and hollering amongst I'm selves. With only them and me in the room it was a little disturbing while I was having my lunch. Next time I will just...
Read moreThis is a very nice family run business. The donairs are how they should be. The vegetables and pita are very fresh and they don’t cheap out on the meat like most other shops nowadays. The donairs are balanced and the sauce is excellent. They also make a fresh batch of fries that just can’t be beat and have a seasoning that you can’t seem to replicate (Rob makes his seasonings and sauces in house). I’ve tried many other “top rated” donairs but the consistency and quality of Rob’s is unmatched. The restaurant is also kept clean unlike some other places I’ve been and the customer service is unparalleled. You will see them cleaning tables almost as soon as someone gets up to leave and they make a point to build a relationship with their customers. Truly salt of the...
