I've visited the Sherwood Park location twice in a month and lightening struck twice because I was blessed with the best British style Fish and Chips I've had in my 46 years of existence both times! The halibut was buttery, flavourful, moist yet flaky and the batter and deep fry were perfect to the point you couldn't even tell they were previously submerged in oil. Speaking of oil one of the owners, Jay, (more on him later) said he prioritizes fresh high grade oil and regularly changes it which is a key reason for the golden crispy shell that wraps the main attraction (the halibut in my case). Note, I did also try the haddock which if I didn't order the halibut would have been the best fish I've had in my almost 50 years on earth. The coleslaw was also excellent and a must add to your meal as it kind of acts as a palette reset between bites of fish and fries (like the pickled ginger is supposed to do with sushi). Back to the owners, Jay and Kevin who I was fortunate to talk with...they are committed to the highest quality product and service and you can taste the pride in their craft. They seek out the best fish, the best ingredients and the best chefs so you can be confident that your plate will be top tier. Did I mention that they also serve GLUTEN FREE options at no extra charge!?! Anyways to wrap this up I gladly offer my loyalty to Winston Fish and Chips and although the phrase goes "there are other fish in the sea", my response is - that may be true but there is only one fish I want on my plate - Winston's...

We had heard that “Winston’s” was supposed to be a really good restaurant for fish and chips. What a disappointment. We started with deep fried mushrooms that tasted as if they were deep fried in weeks old grease. Like the flavour from the traveling exhibition. The batter had an odd, stale taste. To complement our ‘full meal deal’ of 2 pieces of fish with chips & a beverage, we ordered some onion rings. The onion rings were typical. If you put them beside an order from Dairy Queen, I don’t think you’d be able to tell the difference, other than price. When the main dish came, I was a bit disappointed when the chips were not fresh cut fries, as one would think they’d be for a restaurant that serves “Real” Fish & Chips. I recognized the flavour & coating on the chips, and the waitress could not deny when I asked about the ‘coating’ on the fries that seemed eerily similar to the Cavendish fries you get from Costco. Apparently my taste buds were bang on. The highlight of the fish was more of a lowlight. I wondered who may have been the supplier of the fillets. They were large, but the batter was greasy and overpowered the fish. I wouldn’t be surprised if one could get the same quality meal from a chain restaurant at half the price. On a bright note, the service was great, the waitress was very pleasant. Safe to say the tip was for the service and not the food. Our quest for a quality meal of ‘Real’ fish &...

If I could give Winston's six stars, I would. Such a gem!

We went on a double date here about a half hour before closing. I didn't realize it was so late, but the staff were so friendly to us. If they had been a little run down I would've totally understood. But these people went the extra mile and showed no indication that we were unwelcome. In fact, the owner of the shop came out, sat down beside us, and told us everything there is to know about the fish and chips.

I don't remember all the details, but he mentioned that they use a specific high-quality oil to fry the fish because a lower quality oil will make you feel lethargic after eating. We laughed because we had plans to play Badminton after eating but sure enough, none of us had any cramps or anything. They should advertise that their fish enhances athletic performance lol. The food was so nourishing and high quality.

Last thing, the fish is gigantic! All of us ordered a two-piece meal. I expected the standard size of fish. Y'know, like about the size of a sponge? No way, man. Each piece is a full fish-sized filet!

It was amazing. Loved it, start to finish. So much food without the gut bomb afterwards. Was not expecting it to be as much of a...

Attended this restaurant last night with my Fiance for a date night. We picked this location primarily for the gluten free option for the battered fish. Our experience was well, we were the first to sit in the restaurant at 5pm, small little corner spot with a decent environment. I believe there was 6 spots at the bar and about 16 tables inside the establishment. Menus were at the table, physical copy menus which was nice. Purchased the gluten free onion rings to start. The onion rings were good, but slightly burnt, tasted well though. My fiance ordered the 2 piece halibut (gluten free) and so did I but not the gluten free one, unfortunately the chef cooked two gluten free meals. Carried on with my meal, did not send it back as I don't mind GF. Fish tasted really good! Flakey, good crunch to the batter, well cooked, overall extremely happy. Server was kind, she was on her own, I am imagining on a busy night it would 3 total (1 bartender + 2 servers). Overall, was very happy with my meal and date night with the lady!

I was on my way to joey’s fish and chips in Sherwood Park and my son said no let’s try this New Pl., Winston and dam he made a good choice because all I remember of Joey’s because I could ring the fish out and change the oil in my car at Winston. The owner came out and gave us a history on their establishment. When the food came, we ordered the family meal, which was like mouthwatering, so if you want a good place to go have fish I highly recommend this you will not be disappointed way to go with your service and atmosphere Was above and beyond my expectations as for their coleslaw which I despise is everywhere it’s disgusting, but over here while I was totally amazed, best coleslaw I have ever eaten don’t know what they did to it but serve me

Dined in here for Mother’s day. MIL is Celiac and this restaurant had an amazing variety of gluten free choices, including the fish and chips. My brother in law is also keto and the restaurant was gracious enough to bake a salmon for him even though it’s not on the menu. Service is stellar. Food is good. Ordered the cod, just one serving was more than enough for me. Crispy but light breading, fish is tender and not dry. Also had the clam soup, I thought the serving was small but it was actually so filling as it had lots of clam I didn’t need more than the serving size. We also had a free dessert, the sticky toffee pudding for mother’s day. Big thanks to the owner for celebrating us Moms with a treat.
