Canadian Brewhouse has been one of my favorite restaurants for many years, but after this weekend I don’t think I will ever set foot in one again
I have been looking forward to Edmonton Elks games starting all year, and thought buying tickets through Brewhouse would make for a fun night. First I tried the Ellerslie location to try and get tickets for the season opener on August 7. I called every day for a week and was told they didn’t have them yet and to try the next day. Finally on the Wednesday before the game, they asked me to stop calling and took my name and number and said they would call me. I didn’t hear from them so I tried again only to be told that I was too late and they had sold out. I was frustrated but understood. I tried a few days later to get tickets for the August 14 game only to be told that they were again out. So I called the Sherwood park location and they said they still had lots of tickets. I picked up 6 tickets a week before the game and was told they didn’t have the wristbands for the bus/shuttle yet, but it wouldn’t be an issue. I could just get them the day of the game.
We arrived early and had several pre-drinks and some food. 4 o clock came and my friends and I went to get on the bus, only to be told we needed wristbands, not just our game tickets so I went back into the restaurant to get them. I was told the shuttle was full and there was nothing they could do for me. I explained the situation the manager on duty who basically told me “I wasn’t the one who sold you the tickets, so I can’t say what happened but it sounds like there was a miscommunication on your part”.
So thank you Brewhouse for getting us to rack up an unnecessary bar tab of almost $300, then forcing us to spend almost $150 on Ubers to get to the game. You ruined an evening I spent weeks looking forward to, and then were completely unapologetic. I will not...
Read moreMy husband and I dined for a rare date night last night. The restaurant wasnt that busy, 4 tables total in the restaurant. We got our drinks in a timely manner but that was it. We ordered the dry rib special, they were over cooked hardly could eat them they tasted burnt and it was not served with the dipping sauce it says it comes with on the menu. We waited for our server to return for a very long time. She only returned to deliver our mains, husband ordered the "steak sandwich special" by name. I got a pizza. Food was good, not great. We were never checked on. I had to ask twice, two different servers if i could have a refill. Took over 20mins to actually get one. Then i asked for parm and chili peppers for the pizza, only to wait another 10mins and ask a different server again to get it. Mind you my pizza is now cold. Then we get the bill and my husbands "steak sandwich special" is suddenly not on special (special price on the special board is 17.99, reg menu price is 27.99) informed the server of this, who said she didnt hear my husband when he ordered. Ok then how did you know what he ordered, because he ordered the special specifically but she didnt say it wasnt on special then...... needless to say our date night wasnt very good and the restuarant was to blame for that. When i mentioned all of this to our server extemely nicely, all she said was sorry we have had this issue before and I have told my manager but they wont fix it. And she walked away after without a word. We paid our bill and left. But i dont think i have ever had this bad of service before. We even gave them a chance to make it right, and all I was met with was excuses and silence....
Read moreLet's start with the good. Our server Lily was great, attentive, kind and courteous. Then it goes down hill. We were out with friends supposed to be a larger group thankfully a few ended up not being able to show last minute because we were told initially our group couldn't be accommodated because there was a large reservation for 50 people at 6pm. Which surprised me that this large group was still a no show by 730pm when we were leaving. Sucks for the staff but... With the smaller group we got seated. One member had a pot pie which fell below expectations for them it was pretty dry and this was after their initial order was run out of, which happens not that big of a deal just unfortunate. I ordered a Donair poutine and was extremely disappointed. There were a few tiny pieces of Donair(it was hard to find) and for twenty dollars I was very disappointed at the size. It tasted somewhat okay but due to some eating restrictions if I had sent it back I would not have been able to eat dinner that night. Not their fault but literally the only reason it was not sent back. To top it off when we were leaving another table in our section got a Donair poutine and surprise surprise it had what I expected for Donair meat. Everyone else's meals were okay but nothing special but considering the price $20 for a large poutine it was not something I would return for the gravy also not that good. Been to other Brewhouse's before and this one seemed very loud. It seemed like everyone in there was talking very loud just to be heard at their table. No way to have a normal conversation(for a place like this) without raising your voice...
