A&W Canada — Restaurant in Sicamous

Bad experience, maybe the lady working there was racist? Or perhaps she has a disability with hear through her left ear and there is loud headphone on her right ear??

Had a very very unfortunate experience here. This restaurant operate as a drive through as well as a order in restaurant. I stood by the counter for about 15 mins not being acknowledged. (Other people had ordered before me. However I am the only visibly Asian in the line) An old Caucasian lady worker seems to be busy with order and packing the food and her co-worker was cooking. Although there was no other person waiting in line to order before me anymore (after the person in front of me had ordered). I figured she was busy from the drive through. So I waited. Another 5 mins went by and Her co-worker had reminded her my existence. She said okay and continue to pack food and take more orders through drive through only. I was disappointed at this point so I said :” hi, can I please place an order?” This was completely ignored once again. “This was quite rude” I said after being ignored. Another few minutes went by. She had packed and took at least 3 more orders through drive through(judging from the screen where the order is). Then I saw no order was pending on the screen. I thought it is finally my turn. However instead of saying anything, she continues to just stare at a computer without clicking anything. Ignoring me. Another min went by. Instead of greeting or take my order. She started to take drive through order again. I felt ignored and said “You are being really rude you know?” She ignored me again and I decided to leave. And as soon as I turned around. She said “bye bye ” loudly. Unfortunate and disappointing experience when I am just trying to order some food. I hope she was not being discriminating or racist and just simply has a...

Updated review for 2024. This A&W location seems to have improved from what I can tell. The food the last couple times has been hot and fresh, the service has been exceptional. Up from 2-3 stars to 4!

Original: The people working there are nice and friendly, and the food is fine. Like any fast food place it can be hit or miss depending on whether it is fresh or not.

The main problem this place has is that the guy working in the back has a hard time reading the orders. I genuinely think he needs to get his eyes checked and invest in a good pair of glasses.

Ordered a Mozza and Chubby chicken with cheese, tomatoes and onions added. We got a Mama burger and a plain chubby chicken instead. This time I went in to get it fixed and after they handed it back it still only had cheese and tomato, no onion. I had to hand the same burger back a second time for him to put the onion on.

This has actually happened on around 4 different occasions over the last couple years where they've entered the order correctly, but the food received was wrong, which accounts for around half of the total visits I've made...

This A&W is inside the gas station. You enter and to the left is the A&W and the right is the convenience store. It's very small, has limited indoor seating, but there are 3 outdoor concrete table and benches. There are two public handicapped private washrooms that are gender neutral. There is also a drive-thru here, we chose to come inside however. The cashier was a very nice lady, attentive and friendly. She offered to clean a table inside if we wanted and I said we would eat outside and she asked, "you sure?" Very sweet. I saw two other younger men/boys in the back. Food was quick and tasty. I asked if I could have my burger lettuce wrapped (didn't see it on the menu) but she said "we can do anything you want!" They did a good job, my meat didn't fall out, which is usually my biggest challenge when eating a lettuce...
