Galiano Island, the first rock from the Mainland, is a small, sleepy island Oxeye just opened at the old Emporium Restaurant site The chef is very creative and uses a lot of local natural ingredients Oxeye opens early and bakes its own bread The staff is very friendly and remembers you by name if they have seen you before. The cofffee is excellent and the pannini are very substantial and a delicious choice for breakfast or lunch Live music events are back, Lightning Dust, my favorite West Coast Band, played live there recently. This is a great spot, ten minutes walk from Sturdies bay Ferry and close to three galleries, Art and Soul, The Little Yellow House Art Center and The Cabra Gallery Museum A wonderful way to spend a day If you are a senior, you can make it there and back in one day If you also travel Monday to Thursday and are a BC resident and a senior, the ferry is free (normally about 20$for footsies or a person and a bike ) Glad the old Emporium is now the new Oxeye and still hopping! They had some fresh made breads that looked greats, among other items, but we stuck with some light lunch selections, mussels on toast, and chicken baguette (all bread freshly made and excellent homemade spreads). Will definitely try them again while waiting for the ferry back. Just double check their days/hours with...

It would hold its own against any big city sandwich shop. Everything down to the bread tastes, and is probably made in house. The pork is tender and falls apart and comes in a slab (no mystery meat or fillers here) and the bread is the proper, soft and cusiony inside and hard and crusty on the outside.
Do yourself a favour sit down and stay a while. Hell, have two or...
