Elmvale Bakery — Restaurant in Springwater

Went in today to buy a few items but was unpleasantly greeted by the rude counter person, Anna, who first asked me if my clearly vested dog was a service dog which I have no issue with and responded “yes she is”. She then proceeded to tell me that I should still wait outside with my service dog. She said the owner, Chris, didn’t want any dogs even service dogs in the store. I told her that was illegal and I would not wait outside. She just repeated that this was the owners request. We stayed and purchased our items and chose to ignore her or the owners ignorance.

To be very clear I have a disability and a service dog from the largest organization in Canada.

Truly shameful of the store. OPP advised me to report this to the Human Rights Commission and told me to remind the store owner that this isn’t really optional.

I’ve emailed you and waiting for a response. Weird how your employee kept saying that the owner said that he doesn’t care if it’s a service dog or not. Why did she keep saying that? Being 17 years old is irrelevant to...
