My husband and I decided to go for a last minute date night as the heat in the house was unbearable and there was no way we were going to use the oven and stove and heat the house even more. My husband suggested Argos since it was new. We arrived with no reservation, it was busy, we asked for a table and to our surprise they seated us immediately (in the dinning room).
Our waitress, Bryann, was amazing from the moment she arrived to our table.
The night we went, Thursday, was the sharable drink specials. I did ask exactly how that works, and Bryann was very pleasant in her explanation.
We ordered the Pulpo Tapas and it was amazing. The octopus was cooked perfectly and the hummus and tomato's tasted so good with the octopus. For our mains, my husband got the Lamb Chops (no side - see note below) and I got the Lobster Tajarin. My husband gave me a taste of the lamb chops and they were cooked the way lamb chops are supposed to be cooked which was to perfection. My lobster tajarin was excellent. Along with the lobster tail, there were chunks of lobster mixed amongst the pasta. The bowl looked small but it was deep. It was a satisfying amount.
Keep in mind when ordering a main there are no standard sides that come with your meal. When you order the lamb chops you get just that, lamb chops with the sauce. Now you do get three good size chops, but a choice of side to accompany the main dish is a la carte.
Our water glasses (we stuck with water considering how hot it was outside) were filled on a regular basis.
At no time did we feel rushed, or unwanted. Bryann was welcoming from start to finish and had a great personality. Crossing fingers we get her again.
We opted for no desert as we were already full.
The dĂŠcor and atmosphere is impressive. We were regulars of Delux which was in the location previously, so it was neat to see how they transformed the space. The dinning room was full so it was a bit noisy but that just shows how the other patrons were enjoying themselves.
Highly recommend this new addition to St. Albert. We will be back - looking forward to the Gyros that are "coming soon".
Please do not go by any negative reviews and you go yourself to give it the chance...
Read moreWent here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had heard very good things about Argos and decided to give it a try. The decor is very tasteful and has a mediterranean feel to it. The hostesses were very pleasant and warm when greeting us.
When we sat down our server, Danni, came over and introduced herself to us. Again she was very pleasant, explained the menu to us and took our drink orders. My wife ordered the white Sangria and I ordered the non-alcoholic Sicilian Sunset...both were delicious.
For dinner we ordered the croquetas and empanadas (chorizo) as our tapas. Both were very tasty and had excellent flavours to them. For dinner we shared the Seafood Pae-Sotto...this was an incredible dish. It is Argos take on paella and risotto. The dish was full of seafood (shrimp, mussels, clams and large scallops). The risotto was perfect and creamy and was very flavourful. There was enough in this dish for four people, but it was so good we both finished the dish. For dessert we had churros and pistachio filled beignets (thank you Argos!). Both were excellent.
What really made our dinner excellent was our server Danni. She was attentive, made sure our glasses were topped up, ensured our food was to our liking, answered any and all our questions about the menu and was overall...excellent. As well, all the servers who brought our dishes were very pleasant. Other staff who didn't serve us walked by and always had smiles on their faces which was nice to see. In an age where customer service seems to be dwindling, Argos has got it right and has hired very nice, professional and attentive staff.
Danni and the Argos staff made us feel that we chose the right restaurant to celebrate our...
Read moreI was really excited to finally have dinner at Argos on Saturday, March 29, with a table for four. I would love to provide this restaurant with a better review however this is our experience. We ordered a few appetizers, a salad, the seafood paella, a couple of cocktails, and two bottles of wine. We even indulged in dessert. Firstly, I want to mention that our server was truly lovely. The food was overall pretty good.
However, while enjoying the seafood paella, my husband encountered something sharp what he first thought to be a shrimp shell, in his mouth. Itâs quite dark so hard to tell what it is initially. He removed it and continued eating, but soon after, he found an even larger sharp object in his mouth. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be sharp large piece of plastic that actually cut the roof of his mouth. We informed the server and sent the dish back.
Overall, the food and service were commendable. Since we all have experience in the food industry, we understand things happen. We did find it odd that yes, they made us a new paella but didnât take responsibility and actually remove the paella or even the dessert from the bill. I believe customer service is crucial, and an incident like this is quite unacceptable. There should have been some form of compensation, as such sharp pieces could have posed a serious danger if swallowed. Itâs also just...
