Having had the good fortune to be treated to a fabulous dinner at XIX Nineteen’s Terwillegar location a while back (business dinner so no pics or notes for review), we just had to try their St. Albert location on our recent return trip/food tour in Edmonton. And we’re happy to report that the St. Albert location didn’t disappoint.

After having enjoyed some spectacular main plates during our earlier Terwillegar visit (the 42 day dry aged Picanha Steak and Chilean Sea Bass were both fabulous) we decided to design our own “tapas-style” meal from the St. Albert location’s fascinating Starters selection.

But our first order of business was to follow the recommendation of a friend and try their cocktails. They have a small but imaginative selection of craft cocktails, and an equally small but mighty selection of classics. We decided on two from the craft section: a Passion Fruit Piña Colada Martini (‘cause one of us loves all things passion fruit), and; an English Garden (‘cause one of us love all things gin). Both cocktails were outstanding, with special kudos to the mixologist for adding freshly cracked black pepper to the English Garden. We’ve never seen that done before and trust us when we say it takes an already classic cocktail to another level.

We ordered four Starters to share: Double Smoked Bacon Wrapped Scallops; Gruyere Cheese Croquettes; Buttermilk Fried Pacific Oysters, and; Gorgonzola Mussels. Everything was accompanied by two glasses of a crisp, delicious New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Every dish was delicious, with particular honours to the Gorgonzola Mussels (the accompanying Kennebec Fries were cooked to perfection, always a treat) and the Bacon Wrapped Scallops. And if you haven’t had XIX’s Tomato-Bacon Jam you’re missing out.

We asked our very attentive server to space the plate into three “courses”, and she and the kitchen team nailed the pacing. This deserves mention because we often ask for this kind of consideration, and all-too often the pacing we request breaks down pretty quickly.

Our selections allowed us a rare treat - dessert! So we chose one liquid option; the Bourbon Cherry Float (an insanely delicious Bourbon-forward delight), and one more traditional offering; the XIX Signature Warm Butter Cake (essentially butter held together by a deeply satisfying cake batter and bathed in fresh berries and coulis - so good).

If you’re looking for well executed fine dining-level food in an upscale but relaxed atmosphere, professional service and fair price for the quality on offer ($250 all taxes and gratuity included) you really ought to give XIX Nineteen a go.

Highly...

XIX Nineteen in St. Albert offers an exceptional dining experience that seamlessly blends culinary excellence with outstanding service. From the moment you step into the restaurant, you're greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable meal.

The menu is a testament to the culinary team's creativity and attention to detail. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, bringing together old favorites and new discoveries that delight the palate. The Ahi Tuna Twists, featuring spicy Thai noodles, Asian slaw, and cilantro aioli topped with seared tuna, are a standout starter that perfectly balances flavors and textures.

For the main course, the Alberta AAA Beef Tenderloin is a must-try. Served with truffled potato egg roll, organic carrot confit, wild mushroom ragout, and veal reduction, this dish showcases the finest local ingredients prepared with finesse.

The service at XIX Nineteen is equally commendable. The staff is friendly, efficient, and attentive, contributing to the restaurant's well-managed atmosphere. Whether you're dining in the unique and beautiful dining room or the intimate lounge, the team ensures that your experience is nothing short of exceptional.

In addition to its regular menu, XIX Nineteen offers daily specials that provide excellent value. For instance, on Wednesdays, guests can enjoy half-price bottles of house wine, making it an ideal day to explore their curated wine selection.

Whether you're planning a corporate function, fundraiser, private party, or special event, XIX Nineteen is the perfect venue. Their innovative menu options and welcoming service ensure that your special day is one to remember.

In summary, XIX Nineteen in St. Albert delivers a dining experience that is both sophisticated and approachable. The combination of delectable food, attentive service, and inviting ambiance makes it a top choice for anyone seeking a remarkable meal...

Came here for a birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. When we walked in we were greeted with a smile and very friendly host. We made a reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived. I came with my girlfriend and ordered the risotto and mussels to start with and they were delicious. Risotto was rich and not starchy whatsoever, the beef short rib was very tender and was a great temperature when it arrived to our table. It stayed hot while we ate between the mussels and the risotto. The mussels were also just as good, but I would prefer 3-4 pieces of bread to soak up the sauce the mussels were in. The fries that came along with the mussels were also solid. They weren’t greasy nor starchy and very enjoyable to snack on as we waited for our mains. I had ordered the aged 10oz picanha and she ordered the balsamic chicken and we received both around the 40 minute mark. Presentation was nice, steak was very tender and a perfectly cooked rare. The crispy artichokes weren’t my thing but my girlfriend loved them although everything else on the plate was delightful. The potato purée was as smooth as I had expected and the flavor was even better than I had anticipated. The balsamic chicken was cooked to a perfect temperature and was very juicy. The skin was a great crisp and even with the balsamic glaze it did not become soggy whatsoever even til the end of the meal. The crispy brussel sprouts were a favorite and their was a blanket all across the plate which we loved. The atmosphere was very pleasing and the lighting certainly made the food more appealing. It was very loud inside the restaurant and found that we had to really raise our voices to hear each other and ended up sitting closer to one another. Overall, it was an amazing dinner and a great experience. I will definitely be...
