We were so excited to attend our first Garlic Festival Event on April 17th at Sorrentinos in St. Albert. We could only get an 8:30p.m. reservation as the event was so popular. Upon arriving, we were seated in a section that was completely seperate from being able to view the musical entertainment. The musician and music were so loud that we couldn't even hear one another from across the table. We ordered our drinks, they arrived within 10 minutes and the waitress said "its last call, would you like to order any more drinks or dessert?" We were literally seated for all of 15 minutes and we were being told that it was last call for drinks and dessert... we hadn't even gotten our appetizers yet. We had the 3 options for appetizers, the brie brushetta and the lobster salmon croquette were great but the cheese stuffed risotto ball with bolognese was literally panko fried sticky rice and some dried out ground beef around it. We couldn't even eat it. Our mains arrived but we couldn't barely fit the main plates on our two seater table as our appetizer plates, side plates and bread plate with our oil and vinegar were not cleared. I also had to ask the waitress for a steak knife and our waters were not filled once. I had the Alberta beef tenderloin which I requested rare, it wasn't and my plate was basically soup. The gravy on the steak filled one half of my plate while the pasta on the other half of my plate was undercooked. The other dish was the special from the garlic fest menu... the lamb chops. We had to send it back as there was hardly enough meat on the three teeny tiny peices of lamb chops. The manager came and asked if we'd like another option, we chose the garlic chicken which was really good. He stated that the dish would only take all of 7 minutes and he'd get the order right in before the kitchen leaves for the evening. We were shocked! Our reservation was for 8:30p.m. and within 15 minutes of us being seated, we were told that it was last call for drinks and dessert and the dish we had to reorder within 25 - 30 minutes of us being seated, was going to be prepared in 7 minutes before the kitchen staff were done for the evening. This was all before 9p.m. We felt extremely rushed, the music was also winding down quickly so we didnt even get to enjoy the entertainment, we weren't even offered the balloon pop that was advertised for this event and most of the food was disappointing and some not even edible. The manager was gracious enough to not charge us for the lamb chops but the whole experience was a major let down. We were very upset with our experience at our first Garlic...
Read moreWill never be dining at this establishment, clearly run by someone with no morals. Had an ultrasound booked at the MIC Diagnostic Imaging Center that is right beside this establishment. It's blizzarding and cold, and after circling the MIC parking lot numerous times and waiting for a parking spot to free up I had no luck. I had my 1 year old baby with me and noticed that the Sorrentinos parking lot was COMPLETELY EMPTY, literally not one single vehicle in sight at around 2:45pm, so I decided to park there as I was going to be late for my appointment if I kept circling the parking lot aimlessly. I was in MIC for maybe 30 minutes tops, and came out to a nasty note from the staff at Sorrentinos that they had called a tow truck and our license plate had been recorded because we were "parked illegally" in their barren empty parking lot. So needless to say I crumpled up their little note and threw it on the ground in their trash little parking lot where it belongs. I would understand this note if they actually had business and there was nowhere else for their paying customers to park... but when I say there was nobody there i mean absolutely nobody. The front main parking lot was completely empty as well as the side parking lot, and the back parking lot was empty too aside from the few vehicles parked in it which I'm assuming were all staff. Completely unnecessary to leave a nasty note like that, I'm sorry your bitter about your empty parking lot. Maybe if you had a better attitude and focused on your business instead of who's "illegally parking" in your parking lot you would actually have some customers to fill it. I know I sure as heck won't be one of...
Read moreWe have eaten from this location two times now and both times we ordered food to be delivered with gift cards that we have received. The service on the phone wasn't helpful whatsoever, since part of the menu I guess isn't available if you order for take out. So the last thing that we ordered was the veal, and pasta, and salad, was some kind of family portion dinner. The food upon arrival was already getting cold number one, and number two, the portions of meat were absolutely pathetic, as this is the main part of the dish I expected more. The slices of veal were thin and over cooked and besides being not hot, it was quite flavourless as well. The price that we paid for this food I definitely expected better. The salad again lacked flavour, but just zero care and attention putting it together. I get that it's taken out but the same level of care should be taken as dine in, I have actually seen fast food salads look better put together than this. Like I said we have had two taken out experiences with this establishment and I can tell you if it wasn't for having gift cards we would never have ordered here. They have no customer service skills either, when I called to complain about the order I was told because it was taken out, I get what I get. Perhaps the restaurant experience is much more satisfying? But with such a bad taste left in my mouth I don't think I will ever give them the opportunity. Nellos and Louisa's are in my experience have far better...
