Burger Cafe & Beyond — Restaurant in St. Catharines

The restaurant had a nice, clean interior that was well maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly and kind. However, what alarmed me was seeing what I believe to be pork bacon and the supposedly 100% halal beef patties being cooked on the same griddle. I do not blame the couple for this mistake, but by frying bacon and your patty on the same griddle, it completely voids the “halal” aspect of the burger.

Regarding the taste, I ordered a 12 oz beef burger with cheese and no barbecue sauce combo. Despite not liking pickles, I did enjoy theirs, and I also liked their fries, even though they were underseasoned. However, I unfortunately did not enjoy the burger overall. The bun and the produce were simply mediocre, and the patty didn’t have structure, crumbling into ground beef and resulting in more of a sloppy Joe texture. The patty was underseasoned and tasted bland, and there was not enough sauce.

I believe some of this may be my fault, as a 12 oz patty is quite large and would probably struggle to keep its structure, and I purposely didn’t get barbecue sauce as suggested. Compared to the photos in the reviews, my burger didn’t look right, and I truly believe I ate an outlier. One of the other customers who were eating at the same time as me said it was one of the best burgers they’ve had, and having 4.9 stars with over 200 reviews has to mean something about the quality.

I don’t believe my experience here accurately represents the food. My only critical feedback is to please cook your patties on a different griddle than the bacon or have some sort of separator if you wish to claim the beef burgers are halal. If I am mistaken about the bacon and beef, I have nothing more to say other than keep up...

I was excited to try Burger Cafe after seeing recent reviews, and I found the experience to be a mix of highs and lows.

The absolute standouts were the price and the service, both of which were excellent. The staff were very pleasant and polite, patiently walking me through their patty size options, which range from 4 to 12 ounces.

When it came to the food, the fries were good but not great—lightly battered and cooked perfectly, but overall this is what i would expect from a standard frozen fry at just about any chain resturant.

The burger itself has potential; the toppings were fresh, the bun was good, and the bacon and cheese was a great addition that made it enjoyable.

However, the burger patty itself was a disappointment. It was clear that it contained some percentage of filler, which impacted the overall flavor.

I really hope they consider a switch to a 100% all-beef patty. This single change would elevate the burger from decent to fantastic and would likely make me a regular customer.

Ultimately, the excellent service and value are let down by the most important part of the meal. It's a place with wonderful staff, but its full potential won't be realized until the burger patty...

Fantastic service, friendly owner and really good food!

On a recent trip to the Canada Summer Games, we preordered combos for 20 people as a pick-up. They accommodated our special requests and labeled every combo. The food was packed securely and presented nicely, ready ahead of time for us.

The owner was sweet enough to let our huge group sit down in the comfortable, air-conditioned cafe for our lunch so that we wouldn't have to eat out in the summer heat. They didn't have to let us do that, so we really, really appreciate their kindness.

We had 4 oz cheeseburgers (regular, bacon or mushroom), chicken burgers, veggie burgers and the clubhouse sandwiches. All were delicious, perfectly juicy, and very filling with the combo. Most of us couldn't finish our fries (which were also nice and crispy). The textures are perfect, and the ingredients are satisfyingly fresh and perfectly seasoned.

Some of the best fries and burgers I've ever had for sure!

I'd highly recommend this place and will definitely suggest it as a stop if we have another...
