On Victoria's Day, our family came to visit and after checking Google reviews we settled on this place. Upon entering and getting seated, our server immediately asked if we're ready to order. We literally just sat down when she asked and upon telling her we needed a moment to check the menu she left and did not return for 15 minutes. When she returned she had no water and reason for the massive wait time (the majority of the people there were sitting at the bar drinking and including those patrons only a third of the place was occupied with people eating and no one new had come in to sit down. (We were seated near the main and rear entrance)
Sufficed to say, things went downhill from there. We asked the server a question about 3 of their most popular menu items (wings, steak sandwich & club sandwich) and our server rolled her eyes, abruptly cut us off and told us she had other customers to serve and would be back soon to take our order. At that point, we should have left but we were hungry and our guests were elderly and aren't good with just getting up and going to multiple places. Fifteen minutes went by and we didn't even have drinks or water at our table, just 8 empty glasses. My wife expressed that possibly because we are not white that this was the reason for the poor service.
After a while, our server reappeared and took our order. From this point we waited half an hour for our order to arrive. During this time more people were coming in and sitting down and being served drinks and food before us. I understand sometimes simpler orders come out quicker but, of the three groups that walked in after we had ordered, ALL OF THEM received their orders with drinks and a smile. We had enough, and were preparing to leave when our order arrived.
Let me begin by saying that the JUMBO wings they advertised are NOT so. In fact as far as chicken wings go they were hard and tiny with almost no meat on them. Definitely not what you'd expect from a place that's apparently known for their wings. I can't stress how meek and small and dry they actually were! (I regret not taking a picture) The wings reminded me of the wings you get at some truck stop off the highway where this type of food is an afterthought. Next was my Uncle's "club" sandwich, whereby simply looking at the thing you would say it was a common chicken sandwich. It was a piece of chicken with some scraps between what looked like two hamburger buns. In all my 50 years of life and travel, I have never seen a club sandwich like that! I thought possibly it was a mistake so I asked our server if this was a club sandwich or a chicken sandwich to which she rolled her eyes again and said "yes" this a "club" sandwich. My uncle took a bite and the center of the cutlet was frozen. My uncle asked the server to check for herself because after telling her this, she argued with him that this is the sandwich. Reluctantly she took the sandwich away stating she would have the kitchen "take a look" (not remake it or make a fresh one - take a look!) To be fair, I will say my Father In Law said the steak sandwich was edible. He's a diabetic and needed to eat. Apart from the steak sandwich the rest of the fare was abysmal to say the least. This was my worst experience to date. I live in STC and this was our FIRST and LAST visit to this place! The only saving grace of this experience was seeing my family who are always excellent company.
Everything else related to the food, service and treatment at this place was not just below average but securely situated at the bottom of the barrel. If I could I would give this place negative stars I would have. Let this review be a warning to anyone thinking of bringing their family here. As a bar, I'm sure this place functions accordingly. However, a family restaurant it is not! Not by by any stretch of the imagination! Do yourself a favour and go anywhere else.
I apologize for the detail of my review but I felt nothing else would do our awful...
Read moreThe Lazy Lizard was hopping tonight- we enjoyed delicious food (the broasted chicken is my absolute favourite!) Service started out as a 2/10 from 3 servers, when we were seated I asked for a drink menu and was told they didn’t have one (when we were there 2 weeks ago and our server provided us with one). My fiancé spotted our server from 2 weeks ago (Andy) and went over and asked her for a drink menu; in which she reached above her head and gave him one. The server (our original server that started with us tonight) that told me they didn’t have a drink menu never looked in our direction for the rest of the night. She continued to deal with tables around us, but ignored us, and continued to talk with the other servers working & spent 10 minutes standing at a table talking to what we presumed to be friends. Not only was Andy serving the patio, she was also taking care of us and multiple other tables inside. She got our food order, drink orders etc. I went as far as to ask her if they split tips or keep them, and disappointingly she said they split them. We would have tipped Andy heavily if she was alone/getting the tip herself, but was modest in tipping because the 3 other servers would have got it as well. Andy is attentive, friendly, and a 10/10. She really cares about the service...
Read moreSo last my cousins and I finally got together after 2 years of not seeing each other and I wanted to take them to a sports bar so I thought of the lazy lizard last time I was there the food was great the drinks were tasty and the service was fantastic; but last night was not a good experience. It took them one 1 to bring us our food and the restaurant was completely empty only a few people in there and no one was ordering food except the 8 of us. They brought my cousin the wrong food and the fries were cold too and forgot to take it off the bill, but I said something to the server about that and she corrected it, them she charged me for a double drink when I only ordered 1 and she corrected she had to correct that bill, then my cousin order non-spicy wrap because she can't handle spicy at all and she told the waitress that and when it arrived it was way too spicy for her even I tried her food and even I said it was too spicy and it was cold. My perogie pizza was the only thing that I really enjoyed about it. I'm really surprised by this experience we will not be...
