Not pleased with my order tonight. Chicken tasted off - not like what it used to be. Tasted like it was fried with really old used oil, looks very oily and smells funky. I had a combo order with 8pc chicken and a 2 topping medium pizza that I paid $36 for. I returned all the 8pcs chicken back, hoping they can see what's wrong with it. After a long hold on the phone, returning the chicken and waiting again at the store, I received a $15 gift card - not even a refund. This was decided by the manager. Was it fair and the right thing to do? You tell me. The employees were really nice about it to be fair. I understand they can't make decisions for things like that. You can tell me "sorry for the inconvenience" or "we will try to make your experience better next time" like how you reply to your recent reviews but that's not how you fix things. Listen to the people who gives you constructive criticisms and actually improve things, not just say you're sorry and do nothing about it. I love supporting local but this is very disappointing.

Some of the best fried chicken I've ever had! Bravo! We ordered a bucket of chicken, fries, gravy, and coleslaw. The chicken skin was seasoned just right. Perfectly fried. I found myself picking the bones clean. Even impressed my daughter who commented "This chicken is pretty good!". The fries were great and the gravy was delicious. I consumed way too much. Loved the coleslaw - juicy but not too much. It was a great meal. Highly recommend. If you're in Steinbach and hungry for fried chicken, you won't be disappointed with Chicken Chef.

Coming from a Mennonite background, I have to say this: the cream gravy could be taken up a notch. Mennonites know their cream gravy like it’s a language, and it just isn’t quite there yet. If they ever put a true Mennonite cook in the kitchen to be in charge of the gravy — oh boy — that would change the game completely. A little more richness, that authentic kitchen flavor… it would make all the difference... the cottage cheese perogies, farmer sausage and cream gravy were a hit ..

We've dined at this location previously last summer, and the meal was pretty good. Had the lunch special then and it brought us back for another round. Second time, we were disappointed in the personal size pizza and the price change of the special. They raised the price before we paid for the meal. I suggest they stick to the commissary provided crust. The third time we were hungry and gave them another chance. Well Holy Crap! The special was 3 pc chicken dinner with 2 sides - coleslaw and fries. We asked to upgrade to white meat, and were told we could not. It came in a few minutes, so we could tell not freshly made. The chicken was barely warm, and coating was soggy, definitely just kept under a warming lamp, as were the fries! So, as a second thought we ordered gravy, thinking it might improve things - BIG mistake. That stuff is literally inedible. It was awful. And costs $2.50 for each tiny serving - for maybe an ounce and a 1/2! Coleslaw was passable, but not great by any means. Honestly, the food was so bad, and it cost us over $35.00 for lunch. What happened? Did this place get new owners/management as well? Plus the waitress was sour from the last time we were there and not pleased with the price change. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Great disappointment for this well known food chain with a fairly good reputation for at least their chicken. NEVER...

Great breakfast... if you have never tried it get the crackles and hash... order the shreded hash... they serve the crackles and hash browns separately.... to get the right effect and savor the flavors mix the two together... a little salt and pepper dash of ketchup... I dare any culinary chef to find fault... termendous😉

SOOOO.... total retraction 4 years later I go back for... what else a Chicken Dinner... who would have guessed 😂 Never in my life... I mean when was the last time they changed the oil in the fryer... it tasted horrible... almost want to say rancid... but being a cheap Menno I ate most of it... we went for an early Supper as we had errands to run... and not only bad... oil wise... pretty sure it was reheated from lunch. So after we went to Clearsprings Mall... my stomach was churning as we walked Good thing I was near a washroom as I had to make a "RUN" for it if you get my drift... and my stomach wasn't right for quite some time after. Been to other Chicken Chefs... BUT... Recommend stay far from this one

Would change the star rating but it won't allow me to on the edit... and besides can't give it less than 1...

We were there yesterday evening. I as a former server had high expectations; therefore when I go to be served I have high expectations. It was shortly after 7pm and I don’t care that you close at 8 and the servers want to go home. I still expect service. We sat down and the table had a gravy smudge I asked to be wiped. We waited quite a while to have our order taken. Once our food came out our server never came to check how everything was tasting or if she could get us anything else until my husbands plate was basically gone- he had been waiting for ketchup this entire time while the servers both were sweeping and mopping in the back. I asked for more water and a take out box which never came. When my husband went to pay we still hadn’t received our water or our box and our server was defended by another worker that 2 more tables came in so she was busy. I am very disappointed in all the service offered in Steinbach in general. As a former server I know if you want tips you have to work for them. Tips don’t just come with the job title “server” and I was very unimpressed. Food was good but service needs...
