This restaurant needs Help.....I have worked as a Chef all across Canada, and have never left somewhere with more of a sour taste in my mouth. This restaurant Mr.q has opened recently and I do not hold high hopes for them whatsoever. When walking in we were greeted by someone after waiting for a fair bit, the first thing I noticed is how many tables were dirty and left unattended...Likewise the tables with customers had dishes stacked to their foreheads left on the tables. After finally settling in we had a look at the Buffet..Their was a fair bit of Variety, but most of the Chafing Dishes were empty, and looked like they had been that way for some time. Some of the food like the Black bean and Garlic Chicken was okay but very salty. Most of it was extremely Greasy and bland. I did watch What I assume one of the cooks come out a few times to refill certain Chafing dishes on the buffet...He looked sloppy , grumpy, and apparently only had the use of one of his hands as he NEVER walked around with more than one dish. In fact this seemed to be a custom in this restaurant as the servers also did this ..when they did finally get around to picking up a dish or two....I understand that this place may be new, but when you are asking 12.00 plus tax for a buffet as a Promotional rate for the "Not so grand Opening" perhaps you should make damn certain that you have a cook or Chef that is passionate about his job, the Food, and the Community...This is seen FAR too much in the City of Steinbach...There are far too many restaurants here that do this for a living, and have long lost their hearts for service or the People that they serve. My assumption is that they may slide for a while as Steinbach seems to be used to this kind of treatment..But this restaurant will not last...It is certainly worth the...
Read moreMyself and my husband attend Mr.Q’s on Saturday August 12 2023. Previous to this date we attended one other time approximately a year ago. We remembered it wasn’t too bad. This time it confirmed it was mediocre at best. We arrived at 4:30 pm when the doors opened. Now, many years ago I managed a restaurant and we certainly didn’t provide the experience to out customers as what we had on Saturday night. It was disgusting. Now, I do know it is fall and the flies are coming in, HOWEVER, there are products you can purchase in your restaurant. In addition, you only open up at 4:30!! The tables should have been stripped off, all cutlery and machines covered and at minimal sprayed that restaurant out!! Left for min 1/2 hr to and hr and then wipe down everything and sanitize and reset for service. Then vacuum carpets. I don’t even want to quess how bad that kitchen was! They were flying and landing all over the buffet food. I was killing them at my table! I am sorry, to have mediocre food or even service we may have still chosen to attend your restaurant, however not anymore. The reason why we did like it was the lighting was better, not so dark like Lee’s Village. Explore your options for pest control and please do better for others. Unfortunately we will not be attending your establishment...
Read moreA pleasant surprise! Every brand new restaurant has some growing pains, but the best treatment for those pains is great food and service -- and Mr Q delivered. The buffet appears small at first, but there is actually a lot of choice and -- I don't know if it was by design or accident -- the VARIETY of flavours was great. The ratio of meat dishes to vegetables and starches is excellent. They seem to be using quality ingredients -- none of those surprise can-barely-chew-them bits in the meat, for example. The Black Bean Beef had beef pieces that were more tender than most beef dishes I've had at typical family restaurants. The supper price was about $15/adult during supper. I forgot to check, but I believe the lunch price is slightly cheaper. The price includes the buffet, fountain drinks, and dessert. Dessert is not extensive -- a few hard ice cream flavours, some fruit choices and (new to me) cucumber slices. To be honest, after two hearty trips to the buffet, I didn't need a whole lot of dessert. Perhaps the biggest indicator of whether or not YOU should go was the size of the supper crowd. We arrived early on, but the restaurant was starting to fill up rapidly at around 5:30. Seems to already be a popular place and I wager it will only get bigger. We will certainly be...
