New Red Pepper Cafe — Restaurant in Stony Plain

I recently dined at the New Red Pepper Cafe in Stony Plain, and I must say, it was a delightful experience.

While the exterior and interior might seem a bit dated, don't let that deter you. The restaurant was clean, and the service was friendly and attentive.

Although my request to substitute chicken fried rice for BBQ pork fried rice was not accommodated, the food that arrived more than made up for it. The portion sizes were generous, and the dishes were served piping hot, fresh, and not at all greasy. In fact, the quality of the food was outstanding—definitely the best Chinese cuisine I've had in Alberta.

We no longer live in town but are 45mins away. Lastnight we decided to order from here, it's been just over a year since our last great experience. We used to always order every few months for at least 4yrs and it was always great, until lastnight. Very disappointed with the taste, and portions. Chicken balls have shrunk to about a golf ball, ginger beef has a terrible batter on it and the taste is not what it used to be. The chicken chow mein, tasted like noodles doused in soya sauce. I personally used to be able to eat your fried rice on it's own because the rice itself was so flavorful, and now there's absolutely no flavor. Hands down the best food and service my boyfriend and I have ever had. We went in on Christmas Eve and I cant explain how great the service was. The owner sat us at our table and was very easy to talk to, talking to us about how long they have been there and their business here. Their daughter was our waitress and she was so funny, outgoing, and all around a bright lovely person, she was joking around and engaging in conversation with us, as if she has known us for years (she even made my boyfriend a hat :) ).
