We made an advanced reservation for 7. We had eaten here several times for Sunday brunch (which is buffet style) and never had any complaints, but this time it was different. This was their special Thanksgiving weekend meal. The server, Andrea, was quite rude. You know when people truly enjoy their job and when they are just tolerating it with a fake smile - the latter was her. My daughter accidentally pushed her chair back into Andrea’s foot, which I’m sure hurt quite a bit, but when my daughter apologised Andrea rolled her eyes. There were two meals missing mashed potatoes. When asking for gravy for the potatoes that came (originally missing), Andrea argued with my elderly friend about how the potatoes don’t come with gravy! Come on...it’s gravy, just offer more gravy! I was not impressed by the service at all.
The food was reasonable, however, there was a complete lack of disclosure of what comes in each meal. My husband ordered a chicken wrap; it did not say onions and bell peppers came in it, but did say avocado, lettuce, chicken, cucumber, chipotle sauce, but nothing about onions or peppers. My daughter ordered the double Dutch chocolate brownie sundae that said it had brownie, ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce, but it had walnuts and coffee beans in it, yet did not disclose those two things. If someone was allergic to nuts, that could’ve been disasterous! 😳
On a positive note the manager, whom I spoke to on our way out, made an effort to rectify the situation by giving us 4 brunch admissions. I applaud his customer service and hope he is able to counsel Andrea for the future. He was also very receptive to feedback about the menu listing ingredients and potential allergens accurately. I believe he cares and will see this through.
I hope our next family meal there...
Read moreThe Sawmill has always been an amazing dining experience, I celebrated my 18th birthday at a location in Edmonton many many years ago. My husband surpised me for my 50th birthday by taking me to The Sawmill in Stony Plain. After 32yrs it was just as fabulous if not better than I remember. When we arrived we were taken to our table and he had arranged for a stunning bouqet of flowers to be on the table for me♥️ Our server was nothing short of perfect!! She was Very friendly, attentive, and had a smile the whole time. The the food was amazing! I was so surprised at how fast the kitchen put out the food. We had crab stuffed mushrooms that were to die for. They had so much flavor, cooked to perfection! We both had the Prime Rib with shrimp skewers. It was just as good if not better then I remembered. It was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The red skinned garlic mashed potatoes were to die for and surprisingly the veggies were cooked perfect and had delicious flavor!! I was pleased to see full plates. They have not scaled back serving size like many other places have in recent times. Because It was my birthday I received a desert on the house. I ordered the Baileys Brule. It was to die for!!! A perfect finish to our meal. It was light yet the flavor was unbelievable!! ♥️ I love how they still have the old pictures and huge saws on the Walls. 😊 It was one of the best dining experiences we have had in a very long time! I would recommend this restaurant and location to anyone looking for a romantic, quiet dinner. I can not saw enough good things! Its is a must if you haven't been...
Read moreA few months ago we went here and had a reservation and got there on time and then had to wait a while for our table which was fine but they did not have a table big enough for the 5 of us which didn’t make sense, what is the point of a reservation? they made us sit in a booth for 4 people and put a chair at the end of the table and there was not enough room for all of the plates. Late we got moved but it took a while. Then we tried to come here again and wanted to have a nice dinner for my father’s birthday and we were all looking forward to it but we were not helped for a while at first nobody came to take our order, no water refills for a while. Then we ordered and waited almost an hour for our food and nobody apologized for the wait. Then when our food did come my fries were not even hot, they were hardly warm, lukewarm at most. I was quite disappointed we waited that long and the fries were not even hot. I’ve recieved better fries at mcdonald’s! They at least ensure the fries are warm. I felt like I had been served old fries. If I have to wait that long I wouldn’t mind if i could get food that was a good temperature. So much for having a nice birthday dinner! Then after all this, when paying the server stood so close watching us pay as if to see if we were going to leave a tip. I’ve worked in the restaurant business before and I thought it was common sense to not watch someone so closely as they are paying, especially after bad service to expect a tip? Will not be returning to this location and I will be telling my friends to avoid...
