Went there for a late lunch this past sunday(9th) just a few minutes after 2 pm, we were seated right away at our favourite spot. The lounge was dead, one couple leaving and then a table off in the southwest corner finished by the looks of it, just socializing. it took Tristen(our server)11 minutes for our drink order to be taken, it too for ever for the two drinks to come. We were the only ones in the lounge... Every-timed I looked over the server was either cleaning or stocking tables or having a chat with others. Took a long while for the server to come back to place our food order. Food was not slow to come, it was the best beef dip we had in a long time. at about 80% of our meal finished... finished the server comes back to ask us how was everything. ( kinda late if there had been a problem or ? but no the food was most excellent as usual . Never came back to see if we wanted more refills . Then we waited and waited for the server to come with our bill, but never did show up . I had to get up walk up to the front to show her my Debit card ( indicating we want to pay and leave) still took a some time for her to get to our table with the debit machine. This is the first time I did not leave a tip. My wife left a minute or so before me to start the cold car. She was asked at the front by a manager how was it, my wife replied that it was the best beef dip she had ever had. When I came by I told the manager that this was the worst service we have ever had at Mr Mikes, she said oh your wife said it was the best she had ever had, so when I got to the car... my wife said no, what I said was it was the best Beef Dip she had ever had, she did not say that the service was good. Not sure if the manager mis understood my wife or that the language challenge was the issue. But never the less it was maddening to us. PS: to the owners and managers this is what your suppose to keep on top of. Remember this: You staff will not always do what you expect them to do, but will do what they know they are inspected upon. They will always do a great job on the per chance that you will be inspecting their work or service…don't think this is an absentee ownership business, Spent 27 years in the hospitality business. Then retired seven years ago. We have been your patrons since the week you opened up. Thanks PS: we did not post this to get a free piece of pie. Just want management,/ownership...
Read moreI have been going to this location fairly regularly lately and i can honestly say that this is my favorite Mr. Mikes location. First of all i would like to give a shout out to the restautant owner. She is a very hard worker and is obviously very proud of her accomplishments as you can find her here lots. I cannot say that about many restaurants. In my latest visit here July 22 she actually went above and beyond regarding my salad by bringing me extras and even items that really didn't come with the salad to begin with. She is passionate about succeeding and making sure her customers are very happy and satisfied with their food and experience in dining here. It was happy hour .....early afternoon when i got there. The place wasn't that busy at that time but the staff kept busy. I saw them all cleaning....sweeping,washing the windows and even cleaning the overhead light fixtures. Yes.... that did happen lol. I honestly cannot ever renember another time where i saw employees of a restaurant cleaning the lights while i was there. Anyone who has ever been to a restaurant and looked up at the light fixtures that are above the dining table know how dusty those things can get if not cleaned regularly. You don't want that falling into your food. So the pride and work ethic starts with your leader....in this case the restaurant owner. That is passed down to her employees and customers like myself do notice these little things. My town here is a smaller community.... so to have an establishment here as such makes me want to give my business and keep the prosperity local. I love to support those who care. I highly recommend that if you like Mr. Mikes .....and if you have never been to the Stony Plain location to go here and give them a try. The staff are friendly, very attentive to the custoner and all are hard working. This is my go to...
Read moreYou'll never experience such a high level of service and welcomness. Went for dinner for my mom's birthday as a special celebration and it did not disappoint! It was raining upon arrival and we were shocked a young woman opened the door as we approached and welcomed us in for the night. We were then welcomed by a host, seated by then another host, who asked us if we had been there before, upon saying no he directed us where the washrooms were, board games, and let us know to ask if we had any questions. We were then greeted by our waiter who was fantastic, helpful, polite and amazing. Someone else brought our food, then came back to ensure everything was tasting good, then our waiter checked on us to make sure everything was good, and finally a wonderfully friendly woman came to check to ensure everything was good as well.
When we went to leave someone else checked in to ensure we had a good night and told us to have a safe drive home. All the hostesses wished us a good night on our way out.
We had interactions with a minimum of 9 different staff members on our short visit for dinner on a Wednesday night. The food was fantastic, they have some awesome regular specials I will be going to check out in the future, but it is definitely the care and consideration the staff gave us that will be bringing us back.
They also get personal bonus points from me as all the young women were dressed in long sleeve button up shirts, jeans and flat shoes. Their dress code appeared to be the same as the men working and I was so happy to see they treat their staff with a level of respect that is long over-due in the service industry.
Thankfully there is a friendly, happy, locally owned, welcome you like family, establishment that shows such a welcome feel and respect in our community. With...
