There’s a difference between giving people a chance and letting the place run like a high school drama class. This location has long been known for hiring younger staff, newcomers, and giving people a solid start. That’s something I can respect. But what I can’t respect is what’s going on with the current Gen Z crew running the front.
It’s not work ethic—it’s theater.
One moment someone’s taking orders, the next they’re leaving the till to fold a box and gossip, with customers left standing and wondering what just happened. There’s no flow, no professionalism, and very little respect shown to either the customers or the older staff. It’s like the idea of “work” is getting filtered through vibes, assumptions, and feelings.
I watched a supposed shift leader—a quiet, serious Asian woman—clearly trying to keep order. And the rest of the team? No respect. None. I don’t care what anyone says, you don't treat your lead like a burden just because she's doing her job while you're busy making side-eyes at people in line.
I’ll name names if I have to. “Kyle,” if you’re going to flap your limp wrist at coworkers and customers like we’re the problem, maybe it’s time someone told you: you’re not on stage. This is a job. Show some pride in it.
If I had acted like that growing up—ignoring customers, rolling my eyes at management, making it personal—I wouldn’t have been let back in the house. Now it’s seen as normal? No. That’s not how you build respect in a workplace.
Until someone steps in and brings some actual adult leadership to this location, I’m taking my coffee and business elsewhere. Get...
Read moreI'm actually laughing at all of these reviews about how the staff are horrible, poorly trained, orders never right, I really laughed at the comment about how a missed order was "a disaster". If you all think that "never going back" is going to be words of concern or cause panic, think again. None of you have that kind of pull, despite what you think. Can I remind everyone here that Tim Horton's has made itself out to be a cultural symbol to Canada, but honestly, it's just a coffee shop. This is not some place run by Martha Stewart. And yes, behind the counters are kids that work really hard, most likely first time job holders as well who have to learn how to tolerate whiny customers again and again. Let's give them a break, shall we? I prefer to make my own coffee at home, as it's consistent and is always good. I also make my own breakfasts. On the occasional time I go to Tim's, I've never had once had an issue with the staff. Of course, I recognize the stress involved in such a job...dealing with whiny customers is a skill that I still struggle with having worked in customer service as well. That being said, I'd like to commend the young lady with the coloured hair. She always a quirky smile and a touch of attitude which I find no fault. She's a kid on her own path. I think it's necessary. I see students working very hard. And there is another young lady named Marcia who once sat down with my aged parents over her own lunch break and just visited with them! That's so very cool and appreciated. So, let's give everyone a break...
Read moreWent to Tim Horton's in Stony Plain in the A&W parking lot this morning. I wanted to use my offer from my Tim Horton's App that was 2 coffees, 2 hashbrowns and 2 breakfast sandwiches for $8.99. I went into the restaurant to order. As I stood in line , I noticed that the lady that was taking customer orders was very cranky. When it was my turn, I placed my order, scanned my QR code and waited on the side. Another lady gave me my coffees and a brown paper bag and off I went to start my day. I looked in the bag and there were no hashbrowns. I paid $9.45 for 2 coffees and 2 breakfast sandwiches. I went back into the line and when I questioned the lady taking customer orders, she barked in my face that she isn't in control of the special offers on the app and that if I wanted the hashbrowns, I would have to pay for them. That was another $4 bucks. As the lineup was quite long at the point, i just paid for the hashbrowns as the lady scowled at me. My offer of 2 breakfast meals for $8.99 cost my $13.50. No one wants to start their morning off by a lady that is cranky and offers no solution. Thank God it's Friday and Thank God there are three Tim Horton's locations in Stony Plain, because I WILL NOT be going back to this location. SHAME ON YOU LADY. You should have stayed in bed...
